We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Acosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monica, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Creativity and art have always played a major role in my life. I always knew I wanted to have a career where I could express myself creatively and being a graphic designer has definitely provided me with that.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When it comes to design, my goal is always to develop designs that are both creative and strategic. I like gaining inspiration from films, literature, and other mediums beyond design as well. I am very excited about finding an interest in branding and identity specifically in the hospitality industry. Getting to where I am today professionally was not easy. It took a lot of work, mistakes, tough experiences and most importantly patience. I didn’t find the perfect job right away and it took some trial and error finding somewhere where I felt like I belonged. My hard work definitely paid off and now I’ve gotten to work at studios and for clients that I would’ve never imagined I would get the opportunity to work with at the beginning of my career. Believing in myself and my abilities as well as gaining confidence in my work and myself helped me overcome a lot of challenges I faced in the past. With more confidence, I felt like I was able to take big risks which allowed for big rewards.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
