We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process when starting my business was to create a business that helped people, companies, and brands share their voices and tell their stories. I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to have a platform. Whether that be a message that needs to be shared with customers or a story that needs to be told in order to bring understanding and inspiration. Visual Voice Media has always strived to make the storytelling process easy, fun, and affordable.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Visual Voice Media is a full-service video marketing company. Our goal is to give each customer a voice and the ability to express themselves in a creative and visual manner. From commercial work, advertisements, and promotional videos to real estate, construction, wedding films, and even narrative work, Visual Voice Media is passionate about giving you or your business a voice and helping you achieve your creative goals. Something that sets us apart is we take a tailored approach to each project and each client. There is no project that is too big or too small. We look at our client’s needs, wants, and budgets and we customize a video marketing campaign that works specifically for them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Bishop arts. Bishop arts has a little bit of everything for everyone. From great places to drink and eat to local coffee shops and dessert shops, you can get. everything you need in just a few blocks. I would then try and catch a Mavericks game at the AAC and afterward hang around Klyde Waren park and grab some food at the food trucks there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story is a unique one. I was fortunate enough to be able to start my business directly after graduating from film school at SMU. I met an SMU alumni names Jorge Baldor. Jorge has always strived to help college students strive in their academic careers and their professional careers. After discussing my future endeavors with Jorge he generously offered to fund the startup costs of my video production company, Visual Voice Media. The only condition is that one day when I become successful that I would pay the generosity forward and help someone else pursue their dreams and passions. This has been the fuel to the fire at Visual Voice Media. My number one goal is to have the company become so successful that I can reach out to students and young entrepreneurs and give them the opportunity to start a business and pursue their dreams and passions just as I was given the opportunity. After 5 years in business and hundreds of videos produced Visual Voice Media would no be where it is at if not for the hard work of the entire team. Ryan Reed who attended SMU film school with me has been working alongside me from day one. Ryan takes on the role of creative director and really is the driving force behind a lot of our projects. Riley Flores is the multi-tool of employees. He is someone you can always count on and if you ask him to do something he will figure out how to get it done and always delivers the needed results.
