We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Lansford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We all have goals that we want to reach. One of my goals is to prioritize my children’s schedule while also helping provide for my family. That motive sparked the question of, “what should I be doing to achieve this goal?” I have always known that when it comes to my profession, I want to help others in a way that will bring them joy. My creative spirit took over and I made the decision to start my own photography business. I now have the luxury of being with my kids and watching them grow while being my own boss and doing something that I love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It’s fun for me to think about how I got here. When I bought my first camera, I lived in a state where I knew no one. I had the idea of starting a photography business back then but didn’t know how it would really play out. Once it started to grow, the pandemic hit and my husband and I moved back to Texas. That slowed things down and even though I was back home, I couldn’t do much. Finally things started to go back to normal and there was hope…but then I got pregnant and had a baby! I was so excited for this new role in my life but still knew something was missing. That is when my husband came to me and said, “this is your calling and this is what you should do.” Now things are going very well and I am grateful.

If there is one thing I have learned along the way, it is that staying patient and staying grateful is key. In the moment, things will seem so difficult and unfair but later on you will realize that it was actually very rewarding and something you needed to go through so that you could grow.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Food will be involved in everything we do for sure. Dallas has some of the most amazing restaurants and variety of foods that they need to do to experience it all. My top 3 favorite restaurants I would take them would probably be Haywire-Uptown, Pappasito’s Cantina, and Farris Wheelers Backyard & BBQ. When it comes to site seeing and activities, I would enjoy taking them to The Sixth Floor Museum because I am a huge history nerd and honestly driving around Highland Park. Looking at real-estate and architecture is so exciting to me that I think it would be fun to grab smoothies and bagels and drive around Highland Park and downtown Dallas.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am fortunate to have many great examples and cheerleaders in my life like my parents, siblings, and husband. To start, my parents are wonderful role models and show me so much love. Because of them, I learned the importance of hard work and how the choices you make play a huge role in your life. My husband also deserves a big shoutout. He has pushed me to stay strong and to always remember my worth. This business wouldn’t be where it is today without him.

Finally my daughter. I owe all that I do to her. She is what keeps me going.
