We had the good fortune of connecting with Tania Hurtado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tania, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Before I started TaysBalloons, I was working a normal 9-5 job. Our family was growing, so we took a risk and decided it was best for all of us, to be a stay at home mom. I’ve always had a passion to decorate and setup for family parties. What first started as a small side job with my balloon garlands, soon then became a full time job. I had the mentality that I had to somehow provide for my family so I could be a full time mom to my kids. I have been blessed and fortunate to have the support of my husband and family to keep my business striving.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
This industry is very competitive. There are a bunch of talented artists and decorators but it’s my drive that separates me from the rest. I want every single setup, to be special. I go above and beyond for every setup because it means so much to me, that they put their trust in me to decorate for their special day. The road to where I am now, like every business was tough. Slow days always made me question wether this was worth it. All the challenges I take one day at a time. Every single day, every setup there’s always something new that pops up. With the help of my niece and husband, we can overcome anything that gets thrown at us. Taysballoons started off as a side gig, and has been that and much more now. We appreciate all the customers who have trusted us for their events. We would not be where we are now if it wasn’t for you guys.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are several places to visit in Fort Worth. If I were to have family visit definitely would take them to the stockyards for a nice walk. A nice bike ride at Trinity River. Some awesome places to eat Gus’s Fried Chicken off Magnolia, and if you aren’t feeling chicken, Heims BBQ down the street. Food trucks are some of the best spots to get food in Fort Worth. Calisience for the best Birria Tacos in DFW.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my husband my family, and my clients. They have been the biggest supporters of running my business. My husband and niece helps me on install days. My family helps me take care of my children. They are truly the foundation of how my business has been able to run smoothly. Also ,my clients for trusting me on their big day and referring future clients as well .
