Hi Dr. Sylvia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success has been staying committed to my purpose, even while I was still growing. I didn’t wait until everything was perfect to begin. I chose to move forward in faith, remain consistent, and focus on making a meaningful impact rather than chasing recognition.

The success of ONE VOICE is rooted in authenticity. Every book I’ve written, every student I’ve encouraged, every educator I’ve spoken to, and every platform I’ve built comes from a genuine desire to help people discover that their voice matters. I believe people connect with what is real, and they can recognize when your mission is bigger than yourself.

I have also learned that lasting success is built one relationship, one opportunity, and one act of service at a time. When you consistently serve others with excellence, integrity, and compassion, your influence naturally grows. Awards, recognition, and accomplishments are meaningful, but they are the result—not the reason—for what I do.

At the heart of it all is my faith in God. My faith gives me the strength to keep building, even in seasons of uncertainty, and reminds me that every opportunity is a chance to encourage someone else. That foundation has shaped not only my success but also the purpose and impact of the ONE VOICE movement

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
ONE VOICE is more than a brand—it is a movement built on the belief that every voice has value and every person deserves to be seen, heard, and valued. Through speaking, books, leadership development, educational consulting, media, and community initiatives, my mission is to empower students, educators, leaders, and communities to recognize the power of their voice and use it to create lasting impact.

What sets ONE VOICE apart is that it was born from purpose, not popularity. It is deeply rooted in my personal journey, my faith, and two women who forever changed my life—my mother, who modeled unwavering faith and resilience, and my fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Virgie Brown, who affirmed the calling God had already placed on my life. Together, they inspired a mission that has now reached schools, organizations, churches, and audiences across multiple platforms.

One of the things I am most proud of is that I continue to build while I am evolving. I didn’t wait until I had everything figured out before stepping forward. I started with what I had, trusted God with each opportunity, and remained committed to serving people with excellence. That journey inspired my book, Building While Evolving, because I want others to know they don’t have to wait for perfection before pursuing purpose.

The journey has not been easy. Like many entrepreneurs, I have faced uncertainty, setbacks, disappointment, and moments when I questioned the next step. Building a business requires resilience, consistency, and the willingness to keep moving even when progress isn’t immediately visible. I have learned that success is rarely built overnight. It is built through daily decisions to remain faithful, adaptable, and committed to your vision.

The greatest lesson I have learned is that purpose is greater than applause. Recognition may come, but lasting impact comes from consistently serving others with integrity, excellence, and authenticity. When your mission is rooted in helping people, your influence extends far beyond what you can measure.

If there is one thing I want the world to know about me and the ONE VOICE Movement, it is this: Your Voice Matters. One conversation can change a life. One teacher can shape a future. One act of encouragement can restore hope. I have dedicated my life to helping people discover that they already possess something powerful—their voice. My mission is to ensure they have the confidence and courage to use it

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If one of my best friends came to visit for a week, I would want them to experience the heart of Houston—not just the attractions, but the people, culture, and inspiration that make this city so special.

We would start the week with breakfast at a favorite local café before exploring The Galleria for shopping and fellowship. Later, we’d enjoy dinner at one of Houston’s incredible restaurants because our city is known for having some of the best and most diverse food anywhere.

Another day would include visiting Space Center Houston, where you can’t help but leave inspired by innovation, exploration, and the reminder that anything is possible. We’d also spend time walking through Hermann Park, enjoying the beautiful scenery and taking in the peaceful atmosphere.

Because faith and purpose are such an important part of my life, I would make sure we attended church together on Sunday. There’s something special about beginning the week with worship, gratitude, and fellowship.

Of course, I couldn’t let them leave without introducing them to what I love most—my mission. I would take them to visit one of the schools or organizations where I speak so they could experience the ONE VOICE Movement firsthand. Watching students discover that their voice matters is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I would want my friend to see the impact for themselves.

The week wouldn’t be complete without spending time with family, sharing great conversations, lots of laughter, and creating memories around the dinner table. For me, the best experiences are never just about the places you visit—they’re about the people you share them with.

That’s what I love most about Houston. It is a city filled with opportunity, diversity, resilience, and heart. Whether you’re exploring its world-class attractions, enjoying its incredible food, or connecting with its people, there’s always something meaningful to experience

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to two extraordinary women whose influence continues to shape my life every day.

First, to my mother, Dr. Artharene Cole Sandifer. She taught me what unwavering faith, resilience, and perseverance truly look like. Through every challenge she has faced, she has demonstrated that victory is not defined by the absence of adversity but by the presence of God’s faithfulness. Her life has been a living testimony, and she has inspired me to lead with compassion, serve with excellence, and never allow circumstances to silence my purpose.

The second person is my fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Virgie Brown. At eight years old, God gave me a revelation that my voice was unique and would impact others. Just two years later, Mrs. Brown confirmed what God had already placed in my heart when she told me, “God has blessed you with a unique voice, and you are going to be great.” Her words strengthened my confidence and gave me the courage to continue walking in the purpose God had already revealed to me. Decades later, she has had the opportunity to witness that promise unfold as I speak to audiences, write books, host my radio show, and lead the ONE VOICE Movement. She reminds me that one teacher, one moment, and a few encouraging words can help shape a lifetime of purpose.

Everything I do through ONE VOICE is, in many ways, a reflection of these two remarkable women. One gave me life. The other affirmed the calling God had already placed within me. I am forever grateful for their love, their faith, and the lasting legacy they have entrusted to me.
