We had the good fortune of connecting with Suzette Ruiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Suzette, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was my 2 kids. Being able to spend more time with them by having my own schedule where I can go to a school function or a game without having to ask for a day off and worrying about not getting paid for that day.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Suzie’s Jumpflatables started back in June 2018. We came with the idea after ordering a waterslide for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. We thought it was a good side hustle for the weekend. We started with 3 units and now we owned more than 40. Customer service is our main priority, we want to offer an excellent service by making the whole booking process as easy and simple as possible. We know it can get stressful when throwing a party and making this process simple helps take that load off. It’s very rewarding when a customer tell us that we made everything so easy for them and they will keep booking with us. There were always challenges and sacrifices that we needed to make to get to where we are right now. Weekends and holidays are a thing of the past for us since those are our busiest times. Also finding the right employees, I believe it’s something that everyone has struggled with at this point.
We want people to know that having your own business is possible! I know the hardest step is the first but after that it gets easier. Everyone will face challenges starting a business but never give up. Perseverance is definitely a must.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m definitely a foodie so I love going to different restaurants. Mexican Sugar is definitely one of my favorites for appetizers and drinks. For desserts and live music we love Chocolate Secrets! Love the environment and especially the chocolates!!

To hang out we like going to outdoor concerts and comedy shows. Legacy hall has lots of different shows throughout the year and Addison Improv has a really good line up.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

My husband is definitely the person who deserves the most credit! He’s an amazing entrepreneur and he is always coming with new ideas for different projects. I’m very lucky to have him by my side.
