We had the good fortune of connecting with Annie Sayabouasy-Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Annie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As many of you know, I was a Medical assistant and worked in the OBGYN field for over 15+ years. I chose my path in hopes to get my foot in the door and eventually go back to school for Nursing. I attended for one semester and I soon realized school was not for me. I wanted more for my son and I. •
Years passed and I needed something different so in November 2012 I enrolled in cosmetology school for an esthetics licensure so that I could do lash extensions. I wanted to have extra income coming in but never in my wildest dream , would I ever think that this would turn into a Full-time career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

The beauty industry has always intrigued me but growing up like most parents, they expect you to become a nurse, doctor or lawyer. I completed the esthetics program and was burned out. Working FT, taking care of my son and all the while attending school took a toll on me, so I did nothing with my license until three years later lol. In 2016 I went to a lash training and then started lashing, literally out of my living room. I worked FT at the clinic and would lash in the evenings after work and on weekends.

In April 2019 we got our first salon suite and opened Rhîver Studio. Fast forward to 2020 right before the pandemic hit the US, I decided to quit my full time job at the clinic to focus on my Lash Artist career. Unbeknownst to everyone that we would be shut down for a few months.

It has been quite a journey but everything happens for a reason and that will lead you through the right path which is meant to be yours. My lash business since has grown so much.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I can say that I am a foodie so this would be more of a food adventure !!! I love to try out new food places! Carrollton, Texas is where a lot of the food places are. It’s the main spot for Korean food. I love Korean bbq, Vietnamese food and Laos food! So I would take her to all my favorite food spots. Downtown Dallas or downtown Ft worth has plenty of cute bars we can explore. Plenty of things to do in the DFW area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I want to give a big shout-out and Thank you to my family and friends for constantly pushing me. To all my amazing clients who has stuck with me from the start. Without y’all there would be no Rhîver!
