We had the good fortune of connecting with Seth Lejeune and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Seth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My wife was diagnosed with cancer 4 months after I lost my sister to the same disease. At the time, I worked for my family and realized that I had to create my own success. Real estate was something I could, something I could scale and somewhat adjust my schedule around my wife’s care and the kids. I loved the idea of being able to build my own thing.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
There are so many realtors out there and that inherently means both good and bad ones. Philadelphia has SO MANY talented agents that I look up to. However, I would say that many do not have my drive, work ethic or concentration on the client experience. My team hears this all the time from me about how the client experience is of the utmost importance. If not, we can all expect to be replaced by Zillow bots or an app. In recent years, I have been able to really pinpoint my focus on building a team and expanding my client base. As someone who had raging ADD in school, this hasn’t been easy and I have a long way to go, but I am the kind of person who enjoys the climb. No great achievement is easy and I simply won’t be outworked by anyone. That doesn’t mean that I’m a workaholic. I have a strong value system toward family and my 9 & 11-year-old always see me at home when I’m not working. In the end, I do this all for them. I’m a firm believer in recognizing one’s identity and I am definitely a “provider”.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Considering the amazing golf that Philly has to offer I certainly hope they brought their clubs. As an owner of a private golf club, I have access to some of the very best courses in the country which are located in the Philly burbs. Little known fact is Philly also has some amazing culinary destinations. I’d proly grab a round at Merion Golf Club and then shoot down to Steven Starr’s “Butcher & Singer” steakhouse. If they wanted something much more casual, we could hit up Mama’s for cheesesteaks. They’re the best, no contest 😉 If they wanted history, Philly has you covered too. From the very understated Valley Forge Park to where this country began in 1776. People don’t realize that Philly is enormous ranking as the 5th most populated city in the country. Tons to do downtown for days on end.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife and her support & understanding are why I am where I am right now, but when I first started out in real estate, I had some good mentors including Linda Theuer with Berkshire Hathaway in Malvern, PA. She taught me the right way to do this business. I also had a good nudge from my current REMAX broker (and friend), Chris Benedict and ongoing support from my partner (and friend) Juliet Haroutunian. (The Silent Ninja).
