Meet Patricia Morgan | Founding Attorney & Risk and Safety Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Patricia Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patricia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I knew I needed more flexibility to be a more present parent with my kids’ schedule without feeling like I wasn’t juggling work life balance well. The perpetual mom guilt if you will. I wanted to take a step back from the day to day grind to reset and build a brand that resonated with my leadership style and how I practice law. I asked my partner Keondra for any advice on starting a business and she said one word – “Start” – and so I did.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own Patricia M. Morgan Law, PLLC which focuses on personal injury/wrongful death and business law. I believe I am different than other firms because I am a straight shooter when it comes to the law and what I can and cannot do. I’m ok with not being for everyone. I started my own practice at a time in my life where I am more driven by giving quality legal services than running a volume practice and I believe the relationship between attorney and client is a two way street of trust and communication. The opportunity to be selective about the cases I take on gives me the chance to focus on maximizing results rather than chaotic case management. When you begin your own practice there is a lot of pressure to do what big firms are doing, but I keep reminding myself that if I wanted to work in that big firm culture, I could go work for a big firm. I’ve learned that presence and relationships matter more to me than material flattery. And at the end of the day, I want people to know that the brand was built on resilience and an understanding that justice is not one size fits all so cases should not be treated that way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If we were in North Texas, I would show them Fate, Texas where I reside and have my office so they can understand that my New York City roots landed me in a small town and introduce them to some of my closest friends in business and have coffee at Leather and Bound. I would take them into Dallas to visit some of the better known places to hang out like Klyde Warren Park for food trucks, Kitchen and Kocktails, the Stockyards, and we’d also explore new hot spots.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My children are my why and everything I do is to pave the way for them to reach higher levels of success and abundance than I ever imagined. My mother is my foundation because without her sacrifices, support, and guidance throughout the years I would not know what it takes to unconditionally nurture, love, and be passionate about anything. I have come across so many amazing people in my life that have left a lasting imprint and that are part of why I keep going with the goal of creating opportunity for others.
