We had the good fortune of connecting with Oladipo Oyediran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Oladipo, what matters most to you?
Sharing, honest communication and hard work. These 3 principles are probably the most important principles that have guided me successfully through my career. Communication is very key to holding good, long lasting, healthy relationship. Hard work cannot be replaced. One can work smarter, but in all honesty they still have to work harder to really achieve a better class of success. But if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life. That’s an interesting twist.

Last but certainly not least. Sharing. The world can make this mindset hard to practice. But where you can, and when you can, and howEVER you can – SHARE – Share the wealth, share the success. We owe success and wealth to those who help us attain it in any way. This is the very thinking at the core of my Company – SYLA.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was first a teacher at Dallas ISD after graduating UT Arlington. Then I taught abroad in Kathmandu before coming back to TX in 2018 to fully pursue a career as an artist. Since then I have played dozens of shows across DFW, Houston and OKC. I’ve also quickly amassed a large body of recorded, produced, unpublished and published music. The rate at which this growth happened is still sustaining itself but there’s more.

I’ve also organized and hosted shows and events by myself to support local artists under the Movement – S.Y.L.A – Support Your Local Artist. When the corona virus shut the economy for performances down, I shifted this movement towards recording and publishing albums that shared royalties rightfully with each band member involved. I’m not only about collaborating for REAL, I make sure we’re doing this right from top to bottom.

I’ve amassed enough contacts, knowledge and knowhow to guide any artist towards how to record, publish and ESTABLISH themselves respectably. This will always be my promise to work fairly and support local artists and grow my community.

I want the world to know that this U.S System is inevitably changing. Art WILL be respected on a local level. The world will see this. SYLA is just ushering that from this corner of Texas.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The arthouse 1226 in Fort Worth – IG @arthouse1226

The House of Blues – A Dallas staple – Home of Stevie Ray Vaughn

The Haltom Theater – Another Texas staple close to Fort Worth. It has reopened and evolved so much, and it remains my biggest venue through which to support local artists.

Growl Records in – Wonderful space in Arlington for local artist performances and record shopping.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of all things first – Kayla – my partner any my love. I would never be the artist I am today without you.

I would like to thank every artist I’ve met and had the pleasure of working with here in DFW. You know who you are, you’ve shard my home or my workspace in some way – i love and support each and everyone of you – EVEN of there’s beef.

To everyone who has recorded and put out music with me on a close level by way of 808 Saints, Igimeji, Group Nameless, Famous Exchange. Even when we’re not together I carry you with me everywhere I go.
