We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
A huge part of being an organizer is helping people be more intentional about what they bring into not just their space but their lives! When you are buying things out of excess you are doing your part in adding to the global waste consumption. This could be in clothing, food, or simply household waste, adding to your environmental impact.
When helping clients edit through their belongings we typically end up with many things to donate. This is where they have a chance to help their community. Donating doesn’t have to be a one-stop-shop. Nowadays there are “Buy Nothing” Groups where your items that no longer serve you, can go to someone in your area who may have a use for it. My clients may have objects that can better serve their friends or take them to a resale shop!
Organizing affects not only your spaces, it changes your life, and your environmental footprint, and helps you connect with your community!
What should our readers know about your business?
I believe what sets my business apart is the connection I have with my clients. For me, there is no amount of money that overrides the feeling of being able to help someone find calm in their chaos. It hasn’t always been an easy road to be a business owner. Having two young kids, and a husband in a demanding career can be quite the juggling act. Although it can be a struggle it has never made me question if I should keep going. It further instills the love I have for what I do. Coming into someone’s home or directing their weddings is always a huge honor. They are giving you so much trust over really important things to them. As much as my clients help further my success, it is really nothing without them!
In having my own business I have learned, that everyone is just doing their best. Your best is different for everyone, so be kind to each other, even when you do not understand. When I walk into a home to organize, it doesn’t matter to me why things might have gotten to the point because they were probably just doing the best they could. Life is always going to be chaotic, my job is to help them find systems to create calmness in the chaos!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Great question as I am new to the area myself! I can say there is no barbeque like Texas Barbque, the burnt ends from Heim could make me weep with joy. The half-price Wednesdays at the zoo are a saving grace for this mama. Also, for a girl who isn’t the best cook a stop at Central Market will change your life.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The support my family brings me is why I chase after the dreams I have! My husband is the reason I even started my business. He believes in me even when I don’t know if I can do it. He supports me and is my sounding board for all different ideas.
My Dad is where I got my eye for detail and organizing, you should have seen him growing up when it was time to pack a family of 6 belongings into our van for a road trip. My Mom makes you feel like you can do anything with her in your corner and would let me organize the grocery cart when I was little even when it took more time out of her trip than needed. My brother is a successful entrepreneur himself, and we bounce ideas off of one another. Although are businesses are in completely different areas he is there to champion me along.
Finally, my kids are what push me to keep going even when it’s hard to juggle mom life and being a business owner. I want them to see what I do and know they also can go after whatever it is they want!
