Meet Lexxy Gibson | Dance Studio Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexxy Gibson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lexxy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business because I wanted something I felt like I couldn’t find. I wanted a space where I could show up as myself, feel confident, move my body, and still feel soft and feminine. A lot of fitness spaces felt either too intense or not aligned with that energy. So I created a space for women like me who want to feel good, look good, and grow mentally and physically at the same time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is really about creating an experience, not just teaching a class. At Freeform, movement is a form of self-expression, confidence, and healing. What sets me apart is the intention behind everything, I focus on creating a space where women can feel both soft and powerful at the same time. It’s not just about dancing or stretching, it’s about how you feel when you walk in and who you become when you leave.
What I’m most proud of is building something from the ground up that truly reflects me. Freeform isn’t just a business, it’s an extension of my vision and the kind of environment I always wanted but couldn’t find. Seeing women show up, step out of their comfort zones, and grow in confidence is what excites me the most.
My journey definitely wasn’t easy. There were moments of doubt, low attendance, financial pressure, and times where things didn’t go as planned. I’ve had to pivot, whether that meant adjusting classes, navigating instructors leaving, or figuring out how to grow with limited resources. But I stayed consistent, trusted my vision, and kept showing up even when it felt discouraging.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that consistency and belief in yourself matter more than having everything figured out. You won’t always feel ready, and things won’t always go perfectly, but you have to keep going anyway.
What I want people to know about me and my brand is that Freeform is more than a studio, it’s a space for women to reconnect with themselves. It’s about mindfulness, movement, and sisterhood. I’m building something intentional, something that feels good, and something that allows women to move through life with confidence and ease.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Dallas for a week, I’d want her to experience a mix of wellness, great food, and the city’s social scene, something that feels both elevated and fun.
We’d start the mornings slow with coffee or matcha at places like Inclusion Coffee or Nehemiah Coffee Co., then ease into the day with a stretch or movement class at my studio. Wellness is a big part of my lifestyle, so I’d definitely incorporate that throughout the week.
For daytime, we’d do brunch and shopping at spots like Legacy West or NorthPark Center—somewhere you can dress up a little, take pictures, and just enjoy the atmosphere. I also love mixing in outdoor moments like walking the Katy Trail or visiting Arbor Hills Nature Preserve for a reset.
At night, we’re definitely going out. Dallas has such a fun dining and nightlife scene. I’d take her to places like XOXO Dining Room for a more aesthetic, high-energy dinner, or Uchi for something more intimate and elevated. Then we’d grab drinks at a cocktail bar like Parliament or head to Deep Ellum for music and a more lively vibe.
Overall, I’d want the week to feel balanced—fun but also intentional. Dallas has so many layers, and for me it’s about combining wellness, good energy, and beautiful spaces. I’d want her to leave feeling refreshed, inspired, and like she really experienced the best of what the city has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a special shoutout to Patrice, my heels instructor. She’s been with me since the very beginning—starting out as a student and then stepping into an instructor role when I asked her to teach. For a period of time, she even taught for free, simply because she believed in the vision. Her consistency, energy, and loyalty have meant so much to me and the studio. I’m incredibly grateful for everything she’s poured into Freeform.
