Meet Brittney D | Wax Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittney D and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittney, what do you attribute your success to?
The biggest factor behind my success has been consistency, authenticity, and creating a real connection with my clients. I focus on making people feel comfortable, smooth, confident, and cared for while providing quality service every time!! Building trust and staying passionate about what I do has helped my brand grow through loyalty and word of mouth!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work is centered around helping people feel confident, comfortable, and cared for through self-care and beauty services. As the owner of The Wax Lab by Brittney, I’ve worked hard to create an environment where clients feel safe, welcomed, and empowered. I never wanted my business to feel like “just another appointment.” I wanted it to feel personal, relaxing, and genuine, a place where people can come as they are and leave feeling better than when they walked in.
What sets me apart is the experience and connection I build with my clients. Technical skill is important, but I believe people remember how you make them feel just as much as the service itself. I take pride in being personable, professional, detail-oriented, and creating a judgment-free atmosphere where clients can truly be comfortable. My goal has always been to make self-care feel accessible, uplifting, and empowering.
Professionally, my journey has definitely not been easy. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve had to navigate self-doubt, financial pressures, balancing motherhood and business, and the challenges that come with building something from the ground up. There were moments where things felt uncertain, overwhelming, or slow, but I kept going because I believed in what I was building. Consistency, resilience, and faith in myself helped me overcome those challenges. I learned that success doesn’t happen overnight it’s built through discipline, patience, and continuing to show up even on difficult days. Blood, sweat and tears!
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that growth requires stepping outside of your comfort zone. I’ve learned to trust myself more, stop comparing my journey to others, and understand that setbacks are often part of the process. I kick myself in the butt constantly about not starting my own business sooner, but better late than never! I’ve also learned the importance of community, relationships, and treating people with kindness because genuine support and word of mouth can change the trajectory of a business.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that everything I do comes from a place of passion, purpose, and authenticity. I’m not just building a business I’m building something meaningful for my family, my clients, and myself. My children are a huge part of my motivation, and they inspire me daily to continue growing and creating a legacy they can be proud of. At the end of the day, I want my brand to represent confidence, self-care, empowerment, and real connection!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit for a week, I’d want them to experience the best mix of food, nightlife, entertainment, and relaxing vibes that the DFW area has to offer. We’d definitely hit Arlington hotspots like Texas Live!, catch a game or spend a day at hurricane harbor, catch brunch, then head to Fort Worth for the Stockyards, Sundance Square, great food, and nightlife. Dallas would be for rooftop lounges, Deep Ellum, shopping at NorthPark or Legacy West, and trying fun brunch spots and smoothie shops.
I’d also include a self-care day because balance is important to me, facials, massages, good food, and relaxing vibes. Mia’s salon and med spa is a great choice. We’d probably spend a night in The Colony at Grandscape because there’s so much to do in one area, from restaurants and bars to live music and entertainment.
What I love most about this area is the variety. You can find luxury, culture, sports, nightlife, family fun, and hidden gems all within a short drive. There’s always something happening, and the energy here is exciting because everyone seems motivated, creative, and constantly building something

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, my biggest shoutout goes to my children. They are my motivation behind everything I do and the reason I push myself to keep growing, even on hard days. Becoming a mother gave me a different level of strength, discipline, and purpose, and they inspire me daily to build something meaningful and lasting!!
I also want to give credit to the clients who continue to support and trust me with their self care. Every appointment, referral, repost, review, and word-of-mouth recommendation has helped my brand grow more than people realize. Small businesses truly thrive because of community support.
Another huge shoutout goes to the people who encouraged me to bet on myself and pursue entrepreneurship. Whether it was family, friends, mentors, or other beauty professionals, having people who believed in me helped me believe in myself too.
And honestly, shoutout to myself as well, for staying consistent, learning through challenges, and continuing to show up even when things felt uncertain. Building a brand from the ground up takes resilience, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
