We had the good fortune of connecting with David Murillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, how does your business help the community?
When launching Modern Beard Co., we wanted not only to create high-quality premium products but also wanted to make a difference. As a veteran-owned business, we know firsthand the sacrifice that our men and women in uniform endure. At Modern Beard Co., a portion of all sales are donated to a highly rated nonprofit that helps the veteran community. Many organizations have helped us during our time in service, and now it’s our turn to return the favor.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Modern Beard Co., offers handmade, 100% all-natural ingredients. We use organic, cold-pressed carrier oils and the highest quality essential oils to formulate our premium products. Our beard oils, balms, and butters are chemical-free and made with ingredients that nourish all types of facial hair.
Modern Beard Co. had a soft launch in May of 2021. During that time, we gathered much-needed feedback from customers and were able to make adjustments to our products and business strategies. 6 months after our trial launch, we officially launched Modern Beard Co. in November 2021.
In the short five months of being in business, we have received plenty of positive feedback and have had the opportunity to participate in various events that have helped us reinforce the vision for our brand. We want to continue to build the culture of making a difference in our veteran community whether it’s with our time or financially.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a Cowboys fan, the most important places to visit are AT&T Stadium and The Star! Dinner would have to be at Nobu or some good ol’ Texas BBQ. You also can’t go wrong with taking a trip out to the Stockyards. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This business would not be possible without the help and support of my wife, Lily Murillo. Starting a small business is a daunting task and would not be possible without her in my corner. She has been my biggest cheerleader and motivated me to keep pushing when times get hard.
