We had the good fortune of connecting with Marianna Zimmerman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marianna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process around starting my own business was simple, find what you love to do most in the world & then make it your business. If you find your gift that your blessed to do, if it’s a gift that you are really excited about & can’t wait to wake up & do it, then it’s never really work. It’s using your God given talent and sharing it with the world. When it came time to name my company, I used the motto that I live by, The Best is yet to come, because I feel that no matter the situation, no matter the problem, whether it’s in life, health or even the design of your home, the Best is yet to come! So I started with freelancing to build my portfolio & then once I had an established amount of before and after work, I registered my business, created a website & the rest is history!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well, what keeps me busy professionally is the love I have for making over those rooms or homes that I walk into & can just imagine what the outcome could be. It’s the vision that hits me when I see a room that needs a makeover.
What sets me apart from other designers is the knack of finding the best for less. I love luxury but I don’t think you have to spend high-end to have that high-end look. I have found designer brands like luxury bedding & pillows at retail stores for a fraction of the cost. Its knowing how & when to shop for certain items & seeing something that will work even when the client doesn’t see it. My niche in the design industry is Modern/Contemporary design, where in my demographics (Texas) are far & few between when it comes to Designers.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
When family or friends visit Dallas, I like to take them to some specific spots, the “must see” places. Some I will take to the Dallas Art district, where there are good shops & boutiques, good music & good food. I also take them to Klyde Warren Park which is a big outdoor open park in the middle of downtown Dallas with outdoor vendors & sprinklers for kids. They can run around & play while parents sit nearby & listen to smooth jazz & eat yummy street tacos or fried ice cream & just relax & people watch. I also love taking friends & family members to The Star in Frisco which is where the Dallas Cowboys practice, there’s a bunch of outdoor patio restaurants in front of the Giant outdoor football screen. Dallas has some of the best outdoor patio spots (which are some of my favorite places to be since moving here) and some of the best margaritas & also to do some great shopping at some of the cool art deco consignment shops & of course, BBQ, which is what everyone comes to Texas for right?? So Yeah, mostly, Food, Food & more Food!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband (Kevin Zimmerman) is my biggest supporter & loudest cheerleader! He is the reason I was able to start my career when I did. Whenever I doubted myself or didn’t feel ready or thought it would be too much to take on, he pushed me to focus on the bigger picture. He motivated me to take the plunge and that the great outcome would be worth all the hard work involved. He is a retired Military Army Sergeant who still works with Soldiers in the Mental Health Field & Volunteers anytime he can with Veterans & Soldiers. I shout him out because he always has a lot on his plate, but no matter what I’m doing with my projects & even on the day of the design installs, he is on the front line with me, whether it’s to pack up client inventory or put furniture together or help my team in any way he can, he is always there with a helping hand & love & encouragement! It’s one thing to know what you can do, it’s another thing to have your partner in your corner backing you up all the way. I credit a lot to him. Although we’ve been together a long time, The BEST is truly yet to come!
