We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariana Blanco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mariana, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Hello, I was born in San Miguel de Allende GTO. MEXICO, however I immigrated to the Dallas area with my parents and siblings when I was 16 years old. I was able to complete my high school education and attended some college. My upbringing was marked by both my Mexican heritage and life in the United States. When I had my first born child I would take months preparing for her birthday parties. I soon realized I loved to make all kind of things to make beautiful parties, everything from birthday invitations to all the decorations. Celebrating life’s beautiful moments is shared through my Mexican culture. A friend of mine noticed my passion for decorating birthday parties and that’s when she asked me to help her with a double party, her baby’s Baptism and her daughter 3rd birthday party. I said Yes! That’s where my adventure began. I have received lots of support from family, friends and people I meet from this community.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am very proud of myself. My goal is to continue to grow my business. I hope to one day have the knowledge and resources to help others, as others have done for me. I am grateful to do what I am passionate about. The joy and happiness it brings to people on their special day it’s what is all about. But we have to remember to push through, even through the most difficult struggles. In my case, I had to completely take a break from what I love to do with my party decorating business to support my family. My husband suffered an injury at work which kept him from working for a while. I became my family’s sole earner and my husband’s caretaker due to his medical condition. I did not know if I would ever be able to get back to my party decorating business. However, I continued to embrace every opportunity I had to attend courses to help me grow my skills. While attending a course in Oklahoma City, I was blessed with a scholarship from Eddy Heyland (CEO from Balloon City USA) to attend the Balloon Boss Summit in Florida (Mrs. Joette the CEO is a great Coach to keep motivated each day). I was thrilled! This was the motivation and opportunity I needed to grow my business again! I have also had so much support from Mrs. Mary Grasso. She has always believed in me and my dreams. I am grateful for all the amazing people who I’ve encountered along this journey. Every word of encouragement has provided strength and is part of my success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start our day with brunch at Blue Mesa Grill. They have a great selection of food and we can’t forget the mimosas. We can follow that up with a visit to Klyde Warren Park, they always have something exciting or we can sit and people watch or borrow board games. I’d continue our conversation with dinner by Trinity Groves Bridge. They have several restaurants to choose from and we can star gaze while taking a stroll on the bridge. It’s amazing how much catching up you have to do with friends once you become a mother. 🙂 And if the season allowed, we could go to a Mavericks game to cheer for our favorite team.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh my, I wish to name every single one that believed in me since day one. My family first, they are the ones that will always see how much I love this business. Then the family I used to work for, The Messmann Family. They have supported me too since the beginning. My friends that have alway encouraged me to keep going. The Grasso Family is the best. Mrs. Grasso always refers me to new clients, it’s awesome. I can’t put in words how much I appreciate every single person that has shown me their support. Over all though, my husband, because he has done a lot to show me how much he supports me and wants me to keep growing, before and after his accident he stills believes in me.
