We had the good fortune of connecting with Lori Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lori, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For several years I had a different career which I did not enjoy. One day my husband said that he wanted me to find a career that I did not view as a job and loved. I laughed and told him that was an oxymoron and did not exist. Several years later, I no longer had that career and was a stay at home mom. I decided to obtain my real estate license and finally discovered what my husband meant when he said finding something that I loved and did not view as a job. Initially, I think I viewed my business as a part time hobby. Life circumstances changed and my part time hobby became our families way of life. My husband obtained his real estate license and together we have turned it into our business.

What should our readers know about your business?
I believe what sets me apart from others is my service. Home Buying and Selling is stressful enough so I try to ease the stress as much as possible. If my clients call or text me at 10 p.m., I respond. If my responding can ease their stress, why should I have them wait until the next day. Most people believe that once the home is closed, the relationship ends with their realtor but that is not the case with me. I continue a relationship with my clients who eventually become friends. No, it has not been a smooth road. I was licensed in Northern Virginia for a few years prior to relocating to the DFW area. I had to start my business over which was difficult since I did not know anyone. It took time to build my database. Being a realtor takes hard work and determination. I have heard “No” and phone calls being hung up on numerous times but that just motivates me to find a “yes”. I work with both buyers and sellers. I enjoy working with first time home buyers and educating them throughout the process. Professionally I am proud of being named one of the top 100 realtors in America for 2019. Also, I am in the Top 1% of realtors in Keller Williams DFW Preferred which is the leading brokerage in DFW!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When people think of DFW, they think big hair, BBQ, Cowboy hats and Dallas Cowboys. DFW has so many great restaurants and places to see that it is hard to narrow down. I would definitely visit Main Street Grapevine. It is a historic street with locally owned boutiques and restaurants. One of my favorite restaurants is Mi Dia. Dallas has the largest contiguous urban arts district in the country. The Dallas Arts District spans 19 blocks and is filled with museums. We would visit either the Dallas Museum of Arts or the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. After visiting the museum, we would have lunch at the food trucks at Klyde Warren Park, which is a 5.2-acre public park built over a freeway. Every day the park is lined with food trucks serving Vietnamese food, BBQ, Cajun bites and even lobster rolls. The AT&T Stadium is home to the Dallas Cowboys and is located in Arlington. It is claimed to be the largest domed building in the world. You don’t need game tickets to see the AT&T Stadium up close, as there’s a menu of tours, from self-guided visits to a special VIP Guided Tour with extra tour stop and field access, all with an expert guide. Globe Life Park home to the Texas Rangers . This baseball-only facility serves as the center of a 270-acre complex includes a children’s learning center, youth baseball park, 12-acre lake and parks and recreation space on the perimeter. Tours are offered daily. The Fort Worth Stockyards pays tribute to the Wild West with daily cattle drives. We would tour via stagecoach. then go to Sundance Square. It is named for the Sundance kid – partners with the infamous Butch Cassidy. There are shops, restaurants and bars. On Friday and Saturday nights there is a rodeo at the Stockyard which we would attend.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Randy Jones. He has always been supportive of my business. Now he is a licensed realtor as well and we work together as a team. He understands and manages the business/financial side of our business while I focus on building client relationships.
