We had the good fortune of connecting with leslie Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leslie, What do you want your legacy to be? What do you want people to remember about you?
I am an emergency room nurse and have been for 19 years. I was looking for a new challenge and I have always felt like my calling was to empower other women and show them by example how to relearn to love themselves after suffering from mental or physical trauma. I also want to show young girls how to dream big and how to turn their dreams into a business and money making opportunity.

What do you want your legacy to be? What do you want people to remember about you?
I want my entire legacy to surround my passion for empowering women and teaching them how love themselves so they can teach the next woman that they meet the same.  I share these 5 points with every woman that i get the opportunity to do so with.  Every women needs to understand that even if she has experienced childhood trauma, sexual abuse, physical abuse , issues with past addictions , all of these things or a combination of these things……..

1) Your past does not define you. 2) Your future is yours to design exactly how you want it to be.3) Forgiving ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE that hurt you is paramount in the journey to self love and discovery 4) Seek out women with similar stories who have made it ( there are MANY) and connect with them. 5) Own your story and share it. There is someone else that needs to hear it.
I also want the two non profits that are in the work in  to be around long after my time on this earth is done. The pretty girl project, which is coming in 2021, is a project that will connect kulture skin spa to women that have been exploited through sex trafficking or have been physically assaulted. and have scars or branding present on their body that serves as a constant reminder of that trauma. Kulture will offer no cost tattoo removal and scar camouflage to these individuals.
Paying it forward is a way of life for me. I have also raised my sons to live their life by that same mantra.  This world needs more people that will give without any expectations.  I want every woman to overcome.  I want every woman to succeed.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
i think my favorite part of Dallas is the bishop arts district. I like it because its super quaint but very eclectic. There is nothing cookie cutter about that place and that’s what i love about it. I especially love the diversity and the little shops. There are so many things to look at everything is accessible by walking.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe my strength and self love to my parents. My parents have always been my biggest supporters. They are a true living testament of what resiliency, loyalty and unconditional love look like. Not only each other but every single person that they came in contact with. I am a product of a caucasian mom and an african american father who were married for 50 years before my father passed away last September. Their love story is definitely one worth sharing. My dad and i were incredibly close. Not a day went by in my entire life that he didn’t tell my i was his ” pretty girl” I developed a strong self awareness and a solid foundation for self love. I want to share that with every woman that i can. I hope that we will build each other up and pay it forward. Our little girls need powerful role models I also have two incredible sons that are 23 and 25. I had them young so i always tell people, we kinda raised each other. We are super close and they tell me what i need to hear to grow whether its comfortable or not.
