We had the good fortune of connecting with Leneé Cook-Braxton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leneé, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Candidly, there have been MANY times that I have felt like quitting or giving up. Fortunately, right before feeling like I couldn’t go one step further, I feel something deep within my spirit that says “keep going”. My experience has been that just on the other side of those moments where we feel like giving up, lies a breakthrough that will show us why we needed to keep going! There is a verse in one of my favorite gospel songs that says “I just can’t give up now… I’ve come too far from where I started from… nobody told me the road would be easy, and I don’t believe he’s brought me this far to leave me.” No matter what, KEEP GOING!!!

What should our readers know about your business?
I am so proud that we provide virtual (and in-person for large groups) holistic and spiritually aligned wellness services to all types of clients from professional athletes to underserved communities, who otherwise may not have access to certain types of preventative and maintenance care. Although we respect and work in partnership with allopathic physicians and conventional mental health therapists, our services extend into preventative care and healing. This is a paradigm shift from simple treatment. I’ve learned along the way that those most in need of preventative and maintenance care often do not have the financial resources to invest in such care. Most alternative and holistic modalities are not covered by traditional insurance. Holistic Performance Center is an Interfaith Complementary and Integrative Performance Enhancement Wellness Practice. We assist our clients in restoring health and maintaining overall mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. It is our belief that everyone deserves to be healthy regardless of age, injury, physical limitation, or socioeconomic status. To accommodate these clients, we recently launched a monthly membership program to make sessions more accessible at an affordable price.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In order to provide a safe and fun experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, I always recommend exploring outdoor spaces. A beautiful journey to an outdoor botanical garden, some organic beverages, and good food would definitely be on the itinerary! Preferably, this would involve some time visiting the ocean with some meditation and healing sessions. Time to release and make room for new adventures!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I stand on the shoulders of greatness. There were so many female entrepreneurs that paved the way for me. I dedicate my shoutout to my amazing parents (Dave and Veda), my mentors (Dr. Devorah Curtis and Dr. Selene Kumin-Vega), and countless others who are truly the wind beneath my wings. I am also fortunate to have a young brother (his lovely wife), and a sister who inspire me tremendously. My amazing 14-year-old daughter, 24-year-old niece, and 10-year-old twin niece and nephew are my “WHY”. Additionally, I am blessed to serve as a columnist for The Los Angeles Tribune, which aligns me with a community of like-minded amazing people who inspire me to be better! Even in the midst of a global pandemic, I feel so loved and encouraged.
