We had the good fortune of connecting with Keishlanis Echeverria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keishlanis, what do you attribute your success to?
Staying true to myself, being open and honest to not only myself but my followers and all of those who support me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love working with a lot of color, and focus on cleanliness. I am most proud of my work being unfiltered and raw. Ever since I started to do makeup I wanted to represent natural skin texture so others can feel comfortable in their own skin. I started to do makeup when I was 14/15 years old, I am self taught. I would just look at pictures and try my best to recreate them. It has not been easy for me, battling with anxiety and depression ,makeup was and still is my outlet. It’s very therapeutic to me and I can express myself through my work so it can be very soothing. I learned that you can’t compare yourselves to other’s, it’s okay to be different and not everything will come out exactly how you want to, and that’s okay!! I want the world to know that mental health is real and it’s important, talk about it. You are not alone, if you find something that helps you cope in a healthy way and makes you happy go for it. Don’t ever let anybody tell you, you can’t do something. Believe in yourself and you can do anything. Everyday you’re one step closer to completing your goals and dreams.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate a shout out to my mother. I would not be where I’m at without her love and support. She believed in me since the beginning when I didn’t even believe in myself. I am truly grateful to have such a supportive parent. She gave me everything she could so I can be the best version of myself. I would also like to give another shout out to my boyfriend and best friend, for always giving me the best advice and showing so much admiration towards my work.
