We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Plummer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katherine, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I am definitely a risk taker. I enjoy trying new things even if they seem scary. Throughout starting my art business there have been many risks I’ve taken. Just putting yourself out there for people to see your work and being vulnerable with people is often times very intimidating.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an abstract artist that specializes in bright colors and fun textures. I have gotten to where I am today through support from family and friends. I never would have thought I could sell my art until I was encouraged by those around me. It has been such an exciting and unexpected journey to get here. I’ve learned that owning and running a business takes lots of time and discipline. I’ve also learned to just have fun. I make art to bring joy into peoples lives and getting to do this as my job is astounding.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Gosh this is a good question! I would start at Luckys for breakfast, then maybe head to Clyde Warren Park for some outdoor yoga. We would grab lunch at one of the many food trucks there then end the afternoon at the Joule spa. We would then head to the Henry for drinks at their rooftop bar. Javiers for dinner of course and after dinner drinks and dessert at the Ritz Rattlesnake bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My clients and social media followers have played a huge role in helping me curate and grow my business. I have been able to meet many wonderful people and work alongside extremely talented creators. The Collective Dallas has been so helpful in showcasing my work and styling it beautifully in their gorgeous storefront. I am so incredibly Thankful for everyone opportunity given to me along this way.
