We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Anwer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Something that has contributed to my success in running my own business, is to surround yourself with people who support you. Whether this is friends, family or clients it helps so much to have a support system. If you have constant support around you, there is the ability to always push yourself forward and continue loving your passion.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always been interested in art and design since a young age. All of these things come together in photography for me, I was able to create the art and images I was not able to in a more traditional art medium such as drawing. Now I like to show how space and design relate to people and how people interact in spaces, through architecture.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I was to make an itinerary, I would say start in downtown arts district. Stop in at the DMA, Nasher Sculpture Center and the Trammel Crow Collection of art. Other galleries I love also are: PDNB (Photographs Do Not Bend), Lilliana Bloch Gallery and Craighead Green Gallery. If you want to eat and drink, some of my favorite places are Urbano Cafe, Jimmy’s Food Store (even if you can’t get hot sandwhiches right now). Jon’s Cafe is great for breakfast! For drinks: Peagsus City Brewery (downtown location), Cold Beer Company and Twilite Lounge.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t even think about my success without my husband. He has supported me and let me pursue my dreams always. He continues to help me in my business when he can and always supports me. I have also had so many great mentors from college and in the professional world. I still lean on these people to help guide me when I am navigating new things.
