We had the good fortune of connecting with Izzy Roman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Izzy, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
I started my journey as a hairstylist a few months ago. But in the short period of time I’ve been able to adopt all the changes our community has had to face lately. Before COVID-19 I was making house calls, which means I will go to my clients house and do a full service in the comfort of their own home. After the stay at home order ended and hairstylist were able to service clients again I had a huge influx of people interested in my services. I remember that a lot of people were so apprehensive and scared about leaving their house in general. So having a hairstylist come to them give them a sense of control and comfort. As of right now that how I’m helping my community. However, I hope to find a bigger way to help my community in the future.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I was starting out I was looking for something different that could set me apart from the rest. I soon realized there was a need for at home services in the beauty industry in the DFW. After doing my research I learned that I am the first traveling stylist in my area. Not only does that sent me a part but I feel like clients are more comfortable to hire me if I’m going to go see them in their homes, especially with everything going on. I will be turning two years in February 2021 And I feel like my hardest challenge is building my client list. The most important thing to me is getting my clients trust and making sure that they’re satisfied with the service I give them.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A whole week sounds like a long time but it’s not enough time to explore DFW. But if I had to choose a few places, I would take her to walk around Deep Ellum and visit the Emporium Pies and try their tasty desserts. I would love to take her to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and end the day at Cooper’s Old Time Pit BBQ. We could spend a lazy day a Burger’s Lake! Also if by chance we go to North Dallas/Addison area we HAVE to go to Taste of Chicago. Honestly I’m a huge foodie so I’ll take her to all the restaurants!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Firstly I want to thank all my family and friends who have supported me! To my mom for always inspiring and always encouraging me to follow my dreams. To my friends who have let me practice on them: Thank you for your patience and for believing in me.. And to my boyfriend who always pushes me to be the best I can be, and to never give up.
