We had the good fortune of connecting with Hosni OZ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hosni, how do you think about risk?
I believe that success never comes from a place of comfort. If you don’t take risks in life you won’t excel & be better & do better! Making the decision to quit my full time job & become a full time tattoo artist was a huge risk for me personally! Having a career in Art is never easy & there are no guarantees! However had I not taken that risk & believed in myself & took a leap of faith I never would’ve discovered how talented I am and I never would’ve found my passion in life.
So for me taking a risk defined who I am today and lead me on a path I’ve never been more sure of in my entire life!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a tattoo artist. I’m very proud of what I do and I take my career very seriously. I love what I do and my passion towards it is reflected In my work. It’s an honor to have people walk around this earth and carry a part of me/ my art on their bodies.

It was definitely not an easy road getting where I am today! A lot of hard work, late nights, & criticism that was taken to heart and learned from! I started my journey on my own & I taught myself a lot. It actually started during the Covid lockdown when I had nothing to do so I decided to try and pick a new hobby & be productive. And the hard work started from there given the fact that I realized how much this new found passion was so much more than just a hobby. I used to tattoo and learn about tattooing from friends & videos all the time. Even after the lockdown when I went back to work. I would get off work late & work on my tattooing til 5am sometimes. And slowly but surely things started to unfold and doors started to open for me.
One of the most important things that helped me get better fast was my understanding that genuine criticism is necessary & never personal. I listen to people’s comments and feedback and I analyze them and think how & what I can do to be better! No one knows everything! And especially when it comes to art the sky is the limit. There’s always room for growth, there’s always something new you can learn.

I want the world to know that this is just the beginning for me! There’s so much more to come & I believe in myself & i’m surrounded by people who believe in me so on day, not too far from here people will know my name & recognize my artwork anywhere around the world!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I like a lot of places around dallas. There’s a very nice/ fun bar scene in lower Greenville & bishop arts district. I’d definitely take them there for a good, fun, unwinding time.
I also like nature and anything related to it. It’s always refreshing to take a walk in white rock lake. I also love the Arboretum & the butterfly house. Very inspirational especially for anyone into art & or nature.
One of my favorite restaurants in dallas is called “Billy can can”. We’d definitely have dinner there.
Deep Ellum area is also a lot of fun on a Sunday morning for brunch. My favorite bar there is called “Ebb & Flow”!
And definitely some amazing Lebanese food in deep Ellum as well at “Zatar Lebanese Tapas & Bar”

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am blessed to be surrounded by people that care about me & see my potential even when I don’t see it in myself. There are a few people that played a major role in where I am today with my life and my career. The 1st person is like to give a shoutout to us my mentor Wenbo (Leo) Gao. He saw my potential and believed in me and pushed me/ pushes me daily to be better and do better. The things I’ve learned from him cannot be priced.
The 2nd person I’d like to give a shoutout to would be my significant other, Arina Tsepenyuk. She is the reason I push myself everyday to be the best. Her unfiltered honesty & genuinely caring criticism has always been a reason for me to always work hard to be better.
The 3rd person I’d like to give a shoutout to would be my brother’s girlfriend Hannah Tayara! She always recognized my talent and told me that I have so much potential to be amazing. She is the reason I met Leo actually!
