Meet Gregg Gallian: Criminal Defense Attorney

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregg Gallian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gregg, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Whatever you are, be a good one.” – Abraham Lincoln. I have always lived by this quote. I believe it applies to me both personally and professionally. As a husband and a father, I strive to be the best for my wife and daughter. As a criminal defense attorney, I work hard everyday for my clients. To me, this quote has always meant that I need to do something every day that makes me a better version of the person I was the day before. It encapsulates the never-ending pursuit of being a “good one.”
What should our readers know about your business?
I started my firm for one reason – to help people. Each time someone selects my firm as their law firm, it is the most humbling honor. I work hard on every case because that’s what the Clients should expect out of their lawyer. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been arrested for assault family violence, murder, or simply need an expunction, if you have a criminal case or investigation pending against you, I fight for every client, every time.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Let’s start with the important stuff – Alcohol. Best spots – Inwood Tavern, Javier’s, and Sixty Vines. Food – Bugattis, Town Hearth, and Sloane’s Corner for Lunch. Events – Katy Trail, White Rock Lake, and Uptown Bar-Hopping.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I believe I can attribute all of my success to three different groups of people – my wife, my law school mock trial coaches, and Toby Shook. My wife, Jaclyn, and I were friends long before we ever started dating. In that friendship she was never afraid to help me practice arguments, listen to legal issues I was facing, and offer any help that she could along the way. Today, as my wife and an attorney herself, she is my rock and still pushes me to be better without ever making me feel bad about late nights at work or early mornings. I wouldn’t be half the man I am today without her. Truth be told, I almost quit law school. I hated it. But, then I found mock trial and it was there I believe I found my “calling” as a trial lawyer. Matt Cole and Kenneth Bell, both attorneys based in San Antonio, Texas, worked with me tirelessly to hone my craft and truly find my voice. Matt Cole is still a dear friend to this day and one of the first people I share all my “success stories” with. I wouldn’t be a lawyer without them. After law school, I landed in Dallas, Texas. It was shortly thereafter that I met Toby Shook – trial legend and criminal defense attorney. I’ve always been told to surround yourself with people you want to be like. That’s why I now sub-lease office space from Toby and his firm. In Dallas, there is no more notorious criminal defense attorney than Toby. If you want to be the best, surround yourself with the best. Toby might be the most humble man I’ve ever met and, yet, he’s accomplished more than any trial attorney I know or have ever worked with. I have sought his advice and guidance at every step in my legal journey and I will always continue to listen to his wisdom.
