We had the good fortune of connecting with Deuce Gambino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deuce, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks is what kicked started my whole music career. I come from a place where everybody wants to be somebody. I’ve heard the comments people make when someone’s music isn’t good to them. I didn’t want to be embarrassed but I took a chance and dropped my first song and been going ever since. It felt like I hopped straight into the deep end and realized it wasn’t that bad. Taking risks is the only way to make your dreams come true.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My new album “Rocket St. Baby” came out on December 30 and I’m so excited to share this project with the world. This is my first self engineered project and I’m so proud. Throughout my career, I feel like I’ve accomplished so much in such little time and I still have so much more to do. I have goals set for myself and my career and I’ve just been checking them off the list. This road is not easy it takes a lot of time, effort, and patience, but so does everything worth having.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Dallas is filled with so many great places to enjoy. I like to eat, so I for sure would go to Kitchen & Kocktails, Sweet Georgia Brown, and Big Daddy Convenience Store. Everytime I’m in the area I got to stop at Big Daddy’s it’s a must. I would take them to DFW Shoe Plug in Arlington, probably one of the best places to get shoes from in the city. I would also take them to the Galleria, I don’t know if it’s obvious but I love to shop. I don’t really go out and hang out in too many places. The crazy thing is I shop for all these clothes and shoes but don’t really go anywhere to wear them out to. I really am an inside type of person. I go to the studio more than I go out, to be honest.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe a huge thanks to my supporters and my team, Gambino Gang and The Rocket St. Babies. They deserve so much credit for my success, they promote, encourage, critique, anything you can think of they do it. I just want to shout them out and let them know without them none of this would be possible.
