We had the good fortune of connecting with Chyna Russell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chyna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business is solely because there was a lack of products for women of color
What should our readers know about your business?
I got to where I am due to hard work, dedication, consistency, being faithful and building resilience. Always showing up when needed, knowing that you can win without cheating. Knowing that I have children and a community that depend on me.
Nothing worth winning is easy. If it was easy, it would not be worth it. I personally would not want it to
be easy, because anything easy to win is easy to loose. I really know that God made this for me, the goal is to change lives, put out a brand that was made for us. The journey is bigger that you. Challenges are always a challenge, but if we weren’t challenged, how would we overcome boundaries? We work, figure it out and keep pushing forward.
Lessons I’ve learned is, it’s not personal it’s business. being an expert in your inquest is the most important role to elevating your brand and business. Know your worth and still know every time. Knowing your worth, knowing when to accept opportunity when a check is now attached to it.
I want the world to know that they matter. My whole journey is to let everyone know that they matter. People are so easily able to fall victim to trauma and chaos. I want to be the vessel of learning and comfort. Dollhouse changed the narrative for makeup and for learning a skillset. Not only do we provide makeup for women of color, but we provide skill training for the community.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our first stop would be MIAMI, it’s quick to get there, the food is amazing and people a gorgeous. We would eat at Papi Steaks and we would definitely go Nikki Beach, LIV is always a good vibe. I would definitely visit Bawse Lady & Ms. Bling. Some of the best places in Miami are Sexy Fish, the ONE hotel, The Setai (restaurant and spa).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother, my assistant, my sister, my children my supporters, my close friends. They are my village. Without them I could not have stayed afloat. I want to give a special shout out to my manager, Dr. Vanessa Pressume.
