We had the good fortune of connecting with Billy Weems Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Billy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always knew I would do something big. After working for other brands and companies I’ve always felt as I could do better. When I got let go from my last job I remember falling to my knee saying God I just want to work for myself. If I was going to work that hard for someone it was gonna be for myself. Most people are working a job that fits their financial needs and I need what I needed to bring in to be okay. So that made it simple for me. Just make the money that I need to pay my bills. So I start freelancing from there using social media to help me find business and that led me into an opportunity that led me back into the work field which is where I changed my mindset from going to a job to going into training. See I have always looked at a job as work and taking orders but when I started going into the job to learn everyday it shifted how my days were. At the job I gotta to work with a CEO who I got to study for 2 years and learn how to be great at it and I used that time to start building and creating a real plan for a business verses freelancing. After learning so much from the job and boss/mentor I was ready to step out completely on my own.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It took a lot of discipline for me. One the that set me apart was that it wasn’t until I took the route God wanted me to take was when I became successful. I never have had the desire to do what I do now as my Own business. This was something God led. In the beginning it was easy when t was just me,y biggest challenge was learning to grow the right team with the same drive and passion as me. But what changed that problem was have a mission statement and core values, and being laser focused in on them really changed the entire business dynamic. God truly lead every step of this business journey. Which is why our company is call Kingdom Kontent. When I started the business I promised my self that I would keep God first no matter what so I had to put that in the name.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a very simple person but my friends come into town and what to visit my office. Lol I made sure that not office was a place you wanted to be even if your were not working. So we would for sure order some food and hang out at Kingdom Kontent. But would for sure hit up my favorite bbq spot in Oak Cliff called Smokey Joe’s.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, God. I could say family and a lot of people lol but I would say God. If it wasn’t for his direction I would not be at all where I am today.
