We had the good fortune of connecting with Asha Owens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Asha, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I can honestly say with extreme confidence, that giving up isn’t an option for me. I may take an intermission, but with the help of my divine father in heaven; he continuously gives me strength to keep going.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an Independent Gospel solo Artist. If I can be completely candid, I have never been able to deny my love for traditional, soul stirring, anointed filled music. I’m most excited about my Single “God Will Come Through” which was co-written by Titus Glenn. I got to where I am professionally, by way of hard work, investing into myself and having the faith that it was obtainable. Although it hasn’t been easy, nothing worth having ever is. I’ve faced many challenges along the way, but overcame them by praying for strength & endurance. During this journey, I’ve learned to face my fears and trust God through the entire process. We often face obstacles while in pursuit of our purpose. Mine just happen to be depression, due to me losing both parents, within a two year timespan. I was devastated to say the least. However, what I saw reason for my demise, God birth a vision from their demise. Which, is why I launched my online store Lu’Cher Boutique, which will relaunch soon, due to rebranding.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
An elegant night, would consist of this amazingly tasty upscale Japanese restaurant, my husband & I visited called “Five Sixty” in the Downtown Dallas Reunion Tower. It’s fantastic! For a relaxed day of leisure, they could visit Klyde Warren Park, where there are many food truck options for tasting, along with a walk in the park. I’m not a nightclub person at all, so I would suggest a fun night of karaoke. Maybe do a little Wine tasting at Times Ten Cellars, followed by dinner and a movie at LOOK Cinemas or Studio Movie Grill. Last but definitely not least, they could try this awesome 24 hour diner “BuzzBrews” which is located in Deep Ellum. I’m such a foodie as you can see. Lol
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank God first and foremost. My husband Kenneth, for being so extremely supportive. My parents & grandparents for shaping me to be, God fearing, independent, hardworking, strong-willed, structured & kind. My brother LonDee for setting an example of what success looks like. Bishop Jakes of TPH Dallas, for feeding me spiritually & Dr. Oscar Williams for pushing me vocally.
