We had the good fortune of connecting with Amarilis Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amarilis, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
Becoming an entrepreneur is the most important thing i have done in terms of the impact on my children. I always tell my children you can become and do what ever you want in life as long as you commit your self and stay determined to achieve your goals. As a mother, I value teaching my children how to become independent and help others in the process. The best way I could achieve this was by being a living example.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The best way to describe my cakes is “Edible Art”. On many occasions, I encountered cakes with nice presentation but were dry and flavorless. I wanted to be the change and show people that you don’t have to sacrifice flavor for beauty.
What sets my cakes apart from others is freshness of select ingredients and how soft & moist the cakes are.
It makes me proud to know how well my cakes are received; I have received so much positive feedback which is the reinforcement and encouragement I use to perfect my craft and grow my brand.
I truly believe my unique recipes and attention to detail have taken me far.
The beginning stages were tough. I thought of giving up often because it was difficult for me to find a work-life balance but my husband always supported me and encouraged me to pursue my dreams.
I have learned that hard work and a people support system are essential in accomplishing your dreams.
I want the world to know how gratifying and fulfilling it is to look back and realize how much you can accomplish by serving others and doing things from a place of love.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Breakfast at “Snooze, an A.M. Eatery” would be a must for beginning the day. It’s hard not to order everything off the menu so a visit to North Park Center is always a fun way to walk it off. I love to look on art andseek.org for outdoor venues that offer live music in the DFW metroplex. If you’re in town during the Fall, The Texas State Fair never disappoints!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I thank God above all that he blessed me with my talent. My husband and kids are my motivation and I thank them for always encouraging me in my endeavors. I also want my customers, family, friends and neighbors to know how grateful and appreciative I am for the support they have shown my business from the beginning.
