We had the good fortune of connecting with Alfredo Battle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alfredo, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Was tired of working for someone else and was always seeing myself exploring the world.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It all started after graduating college in 2009. The economy was so bad no Communication jobs were hiring. Work at a Steel mill for 6 months then started sub teaching. After one year of teaching I said enough is enough. I hate working under a system, I hate bad ass kids so I quit. Got a camera and travel to Canada every month for a year. I was filming any and everything. Connecting with so many dope people. I was feeling alive had this fire to explore more countries. Starting filming in the Bahamas, Jamaica, then got a call from a company called Surgical Sisters in Dominican Republic to film woman getting cosmetic surgeries. Such as Tummy tucks, BBL, Breast implants and more. I’ve been working in Santo Domingo for 6yrs now loving every moment there. Since then film surgeries in Columbia and more to come after the pandemic.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Houston I’m new to this city. However if friends come to DR first I’ll take them to get some good vegan food. Then take them to Zona Colonial and learn a little history. Then we’ll enjoy the beaches, boat rides, play dominoes at the bodega, and relax.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The book “Who Moved My Cheese” was a book that help me get unstuck and complacent to get up and explore.
