We had the good fortune of connecting with Alanna Powell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alanna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had previously dabbled in starting my business but never took action and after moving to Dallas I knew I wanted to level up and start a local business, I just didn’t know in what! I was scrolling my feed one day and seen a cute engagement proposal and it was with a cute little “picnic” and it’s like a light bulb went off and I was like I got it I want to start a luxury picnic company!

What should our readers know about your business?
Pleasant Picnic Co, is a recently launched Luxury Pop Up Picnic Company servicing all of the DFW Area! We also specialize in Tablesettings, Charcuterie Boards, & all things events! What sets us aside is our unique Picnic packages that you can locate on our website, as well as our charcuterie boards offered with every picnic, THOSE HAVE BEEN A REAL HIT! We just began in March and we have been so blessed and fortunate to have so much growth and support from everyone! I would’ve never thought in such short times we would have accomplished so much. I’ve learned that some days are better than others and instead of getting discouraged when Business is not at its best, I’m learning to adapt & seek help for ways to improve the business & brand! I want everyone to know that so much love & thoughtfulness goes into all of our setups! Alexis & I do everything by hand just the two of us and we give it our all!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a weekend out & about in Dallas, my first stop is always Brunch! My favorite Brunch spot is a cute cafe called “Jam & Toast” located in Irving. We would start our day there then head over to Klyde Warren park! For some fun and activities in the park followed by lunch at the many food trucks at the park! After leaving the park I would take them to my favorite bar located in Deep Ellum called Harlow.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my partner and COO of Pleasant Picnic Co, Alexis Smith! From day one when I approached her with my idea she was on board and willing to take the risk and go into business with me!! She handles so much and I couldn’t do it without her!
