We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Molina-Gallardo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adriana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Baking and cake decorating started as a hobby that quickly unveiled to a passionate full-time task. Creating custom cakes, cookies and cupcakes gave rise to an artist and an entrepreneur. As a freshman in college, there was not much thought process to starting a business. I owe this to North San Diego County who made Cakes By Nana happen; with every like, follow and most importantly every order that challenged me and allowed me to grow as fast as my business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Cakes By Nana is a latina and female-owned business operated by Adriana Molina-Gallardo. Cakes By Nana specializes in custom cakes, cupcakes, cookies y más. Always sugar coating with a fresh batch of buttercream frosting and delicious marshmallow fondant made from scratch. Using fondant to create sculpted characters and toppers with close attention to detail.

It all started 10 years ago; with a passion for baking and cake decorating in San Diego, California. The city of San Marcos and surrounding cities encouraged her to blossom into the cake designer she is now.

Moving to Las Vegas was certainly one of the biggest challenges. Hesitant to shine in the busy city of Las Vegas, Cakes By Nana quickly began to create custom cakes for local residents, tourists, artists and some of the top restaurants of the Strip. Forever grateful for the continuous support of family, friends and clients all over the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Certainly, Las Vegas’ main attraction is the endless fun at the strip. However, Las Vegas has so much more to offer outside of the strip. Fun places, full of entertainment like Fremont Street Experience, Downtown Container Park and Broadacres Marketplace. Let’s not forget about the delicious food at Houston’s Hot Chicken, Texas de Brazil, La Mojarra Loca and Lindo Michoacan.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family certainly deserve credit for their endless patience and taste testing througout these past 10 years. Here, in Las Vegas I would love to eternally thank Katheryn Mojica from Balunz By Kat for every single recommendation.
