Meet DJ Swavor | Nightlife Curator & Sneaker Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Swavor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is being GENUINE and HONEST at all times. Whether its about new music that has just released or a new sneaker that has just released, I pride myself in being honest about my opinion. I believe that honesty is why people gravitate towards me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from others as a DJ is my willingness to go back into the crate and play songs that people haven’t heard in a long time. I don’t stick to playing all radio hits. I pride myself in being able to make the crowd rock to a song from 10-15 years ago, just as they would for a song that is popular on TikTok right now.

I had challenges along the way in my DJ Career: difficulty getting booked when I first started, not getting paid for some gigs, club drama (if you know, then you know)

But the most difficult challenge in my DJ career, of course, has been not DJ’ing for over a year due to the Corona pandemic.

Regarding my sneaker influencer journey, that has been the most fulfilling. Knowing that I’ve been opening eyes in the Dallas area to other sneaker brands besides Nike and Adidas has been my most proud accomplishment.

There is nothing like receiving a message from a follower where they say I helped them get into sneakers or different types of sneakers.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Even though Im a DJ, I’m a homebody. If I’m not working, I’m not out roaming the city.

So I may not have a weekly itinerary, but I know the poppin’ location in Dallas right now is Deep Ellum.

From Brunches, to Day Parties, to Night time moves, you can’t go wrong with kicking it in Deep Ellum.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my FAMILY for always encouraging me to keep doing what I do, even when I want to stop. For always pushing me to keep being myself and changing for NO ONE.
