Meet Alexandria Allen | Potionista, Prissy Potions

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandria Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandria, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The scents! I offer so many different unique scents in all of my potions for men, women, and children. The fact that all of my potions are handmade and vegan is definitely a big plus, but the variety of scents are what’s addicting. I love products that smell great, and I love them better when I get complimented on the way I smell, so my mission was to create products that are skin healthy and that smelled like nothing you’ve ever smelled before (in a good way of course.)
That coupled with my personality and genuine love for what I do is what helps maintain consistency in every product and customer interaction, which in turn is the ultimate reason for my success.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets Prissy Potions apart from other similar brands are the the unique scents, the potency of the scents, and how long they last. That is not the only thing. Every single potions is 100% vegan and safe for sensitive skin, and all products are handmade.
When I look at other companies similar to Prissy Potions, including big brands like Bath & Body Works (which I am constantly compared to by the way) I think of how they simply don’t compare in terms of overall product quality.
Prissy Potions values feeling confident knowing the products you are putting on your skin contain no harmful or even potentially dangerous ingredients in them. My potions help heal and relieve common skin issues, as opposed to doing the opposite or promising the same while disguising chemical toxins in the ingredients.
What I am most proud of when it comes to my business is that my Potionette’s (customers) love my products. The countless messages I receive, the reviews, and the back to back orders show and prove to me that I have created a gem.
It makes me super excited to get in the lab and create. It is like my therapy. I love to cook, and making potions is similar to cooking. I sometimes get up and make potions at midnight… I am extremely invested in making every batch top quality.
Was it easy? Absolutely not, but it feels like it. There was a time all I wanted to do was create potions all day, but I didn’t have enough people to sell them to. I have given away so many free products to get brand awareness and have lost money trying to do the same. So I am extremely grateful and excited for business nowadays. I am a Virgo and sometimes a perfectionist, so I can be very analytical and critical of myself. I want my Potionette’s to have an unforgettable experience when they receive their potions, so when I get overwhelmed with orders, it seems hard (mentally) but the passion I have for my business keeps me with a positive outlook.
I want the world to know that Prissy Potions is all about the love of feeding your skin and feeling good about the products you’re allowing to enter your bloodstream. We pride ourselves in our selection of unique scents and dare you to surprise your sense of smell.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I am such a homebody, but if I were to attempt entertain we are going to probably start off at Uptown. Maybe do a little shopping, and then brunch & mimosas at Bread Winners for sure. Goodness they’re so delicious! Because I am a big kid at heart I would love to visit the zoo and art museum. Dinner would be wrong if it wasn’t at Five Sixty so I would definitely show them to a nice upscale dinner overlooking the city. The best times in Dallas are always going to be the public events such as the fairs and food festivals – those street tacos are always a win!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My fiance Rasheed. He is the reason I began Prissy Potions. We were having a conversation one day years ago and something he said motivated me to begin a new business venture which ultimately became Prissy Potions.
