We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittani Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittani, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought behind starting our own business is really the same as any dreamer. I personally was working at a boutique Marketing and Advertising agency for years when I realized this. I am putting so much effort, energy, blood, sweat, and tears into building someone else’s dream. I could very well put this amount of energy into my own dream and live my life by design.

Owning a business is definitely not easy, but it is extremely rewarding. At a job, I am told how much money my effort is worth. With my own business, I decide how much I am worth. If I want to increase my income, I increase my effort or shift my systems. When I was building someone else’s dream, no matter how many sleepless nights I had from the job, they didn’t add up to a raise… and unfortunately, they didn’t pay overtime for work nightmares!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My favorite part about my business is that we get to bring so much joy to people’s lives! It all starts with the name of our business: Dash the Town.

It stems from this poem that I have always loved, (The Dash Poem) you should read the whole thing if you have a moment… but here is the cliff notes version:⠀
⠀
“I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on the tombstone from the beginning… to the end.⠀
⠀
He noted that first came the date of birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the DASH between those years.⠀
⠀
For that DASH represents all the time they spent alive on earth and now only those who loved them know what that little line is worth.⠀
⠀
For it matters not, how much we own, the cars… the house… the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our DASH”⠀
⠀
My husband and I have suffered a lot of loss in our short 32 years here on earth. 2020 was a year of pain, reflection and transformation.

What I know now is that beyond the loss, I need to continue live my own ‘DASH’ and live my live on full blast!!!

That is exactly what we want for our clients! You will spend a lot of time in your home and in your town – What are you doing to make the most of it?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is what we love doing! We have a lot of clients from out-of-town that are relocating to the DFW Metroplex and enjoy showing them different locations and communities! Grapevine Main Street is one of our favorite spots to hit first, especially with the completion of Harvest Hall! Depending on the time of the visit, we might be able to hit Grapefest!

Since Grapevine is close to home, we would definitely take them on the train to Downtown Fort Worth. Sundance square has some great restaurants and photo-ops to go along with it. And we can’t forget an evening at Coyote Drive-in theater… I had never been to a drive-in before moving here!

We also wouldn’t want them to miss Heim Barbeque and Melt Ice Cream on Magnolia st! Oh and a night out at Billy Bob’s is definitely on the list!

We are also lovers of Dallas! Not only would they need to check out Reunion Tower, but they would have to get a photo with the Giant Eyeball and take a lap through Neiman’s. We might hit a few more things downtown before heading to Trinity Groves for a night out! So many options, everyone can find their favorite food!

Other things we make sure our visitors see: Toyota Music Factory, specifically Nosh and Bottle, our favorite charcuterie spot! Mavericks, Cowboys or Rangers game depending on the season, of course!

Bonus points if they travel during the Texas State Fair! That place has its own complete itinerary!

There is so much more – luckily our last visitors stayed for 3 weeks so we were able to spend a couple of days in the pool and on the lake too!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many mentors that have contributed to the woman I am today. I love motivational podcasts and books and retreats. It just so happens that my mom, Sharon Brubaker, is also a life coach. She has guided me through so much in life and keeps me motivated during rough times.

She not only helps me with the business but also gives me recipes, makes me laugh, and keeps me level-headed!
