We had the good fortune of connecting with Bharghav Sai and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bharghav, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
Social media definitions of ART! There is this conventional belief that the content you post on social media platforms, especially on Instagram, has to be consistent. The mood board, the editing style etc. have to be same throughout your posts to engage your audience better. I’ve always believed in diversity, the more diverse your portfolio, the better. Although I agree that social media has become a major part of the business growth, you have to give clients what they want, but as an Artist, it is all the more important that these “guidelines” do not impact your flow. Just create what your mind/heart want, it can be anything. Don’t let some person on social media/the likes/followers count define your work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being an immigrant and also from a non-artistic background posed its own challenges to me, but I think these can be true for so many people here. The one thing I struggled the most being an introvert is making connections with others and always questioning myself if I should approach another artist to work with them. I was always afraid of people judging me and my work and eventually decide that I’m not very good, but over a period of time I came over this. The belief that I can create Art under any circumstances boosted my confidence and now I’ve reached a point where I feel better about reaching out others and keep my passion alive.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Food joints, so many of them to choose from ,Galveston Beach, Dallas downtown, Amarillo, San Antonio, Austin.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All the artists I worked with until now. They are the main reason I was able to express myself and the ideas in my head, but mainly the support of my wife through this process helped me push myself every time I wanted to give up. She believed in my ideas and encouraged me to think differently and just be me in this over-saturated profession.
