We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Haynes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Whitney, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind our success is having a clear vision of creating a space for our artist to do their best work. We value education and our stylists. We are constantly working together to achieve our best for clients and ourselves. I believe having a modern, minimal space helps us concentrate on the service itself. Our brand is modern and minimal and this has helped us very much over the past 8 years in University Park. Styles, brands, creativity changes over the years and FORM has always been a place our clients can trust to come to for the very best in modern, beautiful, and timeless hair.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I enjoy merging lifestyle with the art of hair. I am trained precision hairstylist. I have traveled the world to learn and practice my craft. But I beleive what has set me apart is adding softness and femininity to the shapes I create. This type of work grows out incredibly well. It is a precision cutting technique with that little bit of feminine touch. Working this way was difficult in the beginning of my career as everything around me was round brushed long layers. I love that now but at the time I just wanted to learn more about the craft of cutting hair and needed a challenge. I’m very thankful for my time overseas traveling to learn more about this art. Something I’ve learned as a business owner and leading a creative team is to let creatives be creative. Don’t try to put anyone in a box or do anything one way. I’m a extremely observant person and paying attention to the details is key. Watching our team members work their way and FORM being the business that cultivates creativity is something I’m so very proud of.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is difficult as another thing to know about me is I live both in Dallas, Texas and Los angeles, California. I moved to Cali about 3 years ago to support my husbands career. He is a animation film editor. I’ve been traveling twice a month to Dallas to run the salon and when I’m California I’m running the back end of the business as well as a mom. I’ll start with Dallas: You have to do brunch. Dallas really knows how to do a brunch! Northpark mall and Highland Park Village are ALWAYS on the top of my list. Especially during the holidays. Honor bar is my favorite to stop in for a cocktail or glass of wine. Monarch has amazing views for a special dinner. Walking around downtown around the new ATT arts center is so nice on a beautiful day and to just sit with a friend and catch up. For LA: My favourite thing to take people to is Soho house west hollywood. On the drive we get to see all of the billboards and then at lunch to sit in the garden and look out at the city is breathtaking. For a beach we always go to Malibu.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to shoutout to all of the stylists I’ve met over the years. FORM started as a hair education company and through that we have been able to learn, meet, and educate many stylist in DFW and throughout the USA. My journey really started when I started traveling outside of the states for education. It made me think about lifestyle in relation to hair. My biggest inspiration was a group in London, Allilon Education. I first saw them work in Berlin at a large hairshow and new instantly I wanted to learn from them. Johnny Othona became my biggest mentor and supporter in my education journey as a student and educator. To the stylists we have met through FORM: We are so grateful to have met you, and worked with you either as a student, former employee or current member of the FORM team. We inspire each other and we must always remember that.
