We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Bender and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always wanted to be an actress. I was the kid that did the school play every year. I would force my friends to make skits in our backyard and we’d burn them onto discs and bring them to class and make everyone watch them on the projector.

I ended up majoring in musical theater for two years and ultimately decided that I didn’t like the industry as much as I thought I would. Feeling devastated and lost, I pursued marketing knowing that was my only other skill. While I was working in marketing, I started creating TikToks.

My account and skill for Content creation started to grow as did my marketing and Industry knowledge. Very recently decided to take the leap and become a full-time content creator. There is nothing in the world I love more than creating content. I basically get the opportunity to be an actress on my own terms I get to create my own projects and get to be my own boss. it’s it’s a blessing and a privilege that I hope I never take for granted.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My content on social media is primarily sketch comedy. One thing that I can appreciate about my own work (even though that’s hard for me to do most of the time) is that a lot of it is rooted in social commentary. Social commentary that I think is progressive and opening up important conversations. I am most known for my sketch about almond moms, where I dissect the awkward relationship between a mother and daughter that diet culture has perpetuated. The feedback from this skit alone has been insane. many have messaged me saying it’s helped them recover from having a toxic relationship with food or it has started an important conversation with their family about diet culture. and that is something that I can be proud of. in addition to sketch comedy, I am very excited to be starting a podcast where I can further explore these topics. my podcast is called the Almond pod and can be found on Spotify apple and youtube.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting Denver, I would take them to Three Saints Revival for dinner and drinks, I would take them to my gym for the most fabulous bar class ever, I’d take them to Cherry Creek Mall for the best shopping experience of their life, And the locals will judge me for this- but I would absolutely make them go to Voodoo Donuts it is my favorite sweet in town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been so many people that have supported me in my journey to become a full-time content creator. Growing up, my community in the arts was my core support system. they always taught me how to express myself, they helped me to develop the skills i now use every day, and they encouraged me to be confident in who I am.

Additionally, I have had many creator mentors. People with Millions more followers than me who took the time to answer my questions and help me along the way.

Finally, my parents were the ones who have recently encouraged me to go full-time into my social media career. they were the ones who told me over the phone to just freaking go for it. I am so thankful that they are always rooting for me.
