We had the good fortune of connecting with Trevor Millet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trevor, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
As a business owner, I always consider the risk versus reward when making big decisions. Any risk should be well thought out and researched, but a decision should also be made with timeliness. Even the best gamblers in Vegas calculate risk very well. On the other hand, the saying “with risk comes reward” has never been more true in 2021. I think the best risks are the ones that are a minimal risk to you but may be more of a risk to others. In other words, play to your specific advantages.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
TM Impressions is a full-service print media provider and design agency. We can offer as much or as little design input as you need to produce a beautiful printed product. We are proud to produce high quality, one of a kind products with excellent customer service at affordable rates with no hidden fees and free shipping to the 48 connected states. We specialize in the hospitality industry such as boutique hotels, bars, and restaurants but are open to work with almost any industry. What sets us apart is our vast knowledge of the industry and the ability to provide one on one help with your project to get the context of the project and what you’re trying to accomplish. Normally there is more than one way to go about producing a project. Our incredibly vast vendor network also ensures our clients will receive the best quality products in a timely manner at a great price. I’m very excited to work with such incredible clients from coast to coast. We’ve added a lot of fun and interesting new products in 2021 that are sure to be hits! I’ve always been in the print industry, in fact, I’m a fifth generation printer so it definitely runs in the family. A big turning point was actually when I decided to try my hand at the restaurant business. I wanted to make sure that I wanted to be in print because I really loved it and not just because of my legacy. I’ve always had a passion for great food and drinks so I felt that the restaurant business would be a natural fit. I still love the hospitality industry but after several years I know for sure that the print industry is where I belong. That being said, my time in the restaurant business gave me a much greater understanding of the specific needs of restaurants and how I could best help through my knowledge and abilities in print. Starting up a full time business on my own was definitely not easy. I had the business going part time while I was working in the restaurant business but going out on my own was a completely new challenge. There were certainly many financial hardships and times when I wasn’t sure if I would make it or if maybe I should quit and find a “real job”. My friends and family inspired me to power through the difficult times and the business has slowly but steadily grown to become something sustainable that I’m very proud of. I’m grateful to have such awesome clients who are an absolute joy to work with every day and bring the most inspiring and awesome projects to the table!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend coming to the DFW area I would absolutely recommend that they stay at the Joule hotel in downtown Dallas. Even if you had to quarantine for 10-14 days there during the pandemic you would still have an incredible experience! The iconic eye of downtown is across the street, they have an infinity pool on the roof, and there are plenty of dining and shopping options too. If you come to DFW, you have to visit the Fort Worth stockyards to experience the “cowboy” feel of DFW complete with real Longhorns and authentic BBQ. Before you go, contact Ben at Mixing and Mingling Concepts for a handmade custom hat tailored just for you. If you’re into the outdoors, the Katy Trail, White Rock Lake and also Arbor Hills Nature Preserve are great places to exercise or just get out into nature. The best places to eat would be Ye Ole Butcher Shop in Downtown Plano, Hutchins BBQ in McKinney, Any restaurants at the Joule Hotel, or any of the awesome restaurants at Legacy Hall in Frisco. Legacy Hall also has some great drinks and live events!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Father, Brian Millet and my Grandfather, Bill Millet have inspired me to start and continue in the print industry by following their leadership and example.
