We had the good fortune of connecting with Travis Wackerly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Travis, what do you attribute your success to?
I got really good at hiring the right people. I used to look for people with incredible skill to hire because I thought talent was enough to work for our Musician/DJ service company. I’ve learned throughout the years that integrity and a passion to serve our customers well is a much more valuable quality in the real world than just having a musical skill set. I lucked out and found great people to work for FCM Entertainment, like Jared, Brooke, Keeton, Amanda and Cindy who all have a musical skill, but they’re also all around wonderful people who other people like to be around. So that’s it, hiring people that other people want to be around, hiring people who put integrity above everything else, hiring people who want to serve people well, that’s my secret.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The road to success for FCM Entertainment was not an easy one, there were lots of challenges and uncertainty that I had to fight through, but I also knew that everything worthwhile will be uphill so I never lost hope while on the journey to success. We are a company that specializes in Musicians and DJs for weddings, but in order to be set apart from other companies we have to look beyond the music, for example we would ask ourselves: what else are we going to do to make these weddings fun aside from the music? If all we did was play the right music at the right time we would get lost in the sea of competition who also plays the right music at the right time. Getting the right people on board has been key to executing our goals and racking up around 250 combined five star reviews online to date.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We work in Dallas often, but we don’t live here so I wouldn’t be familiar with everything enough to create an itinerary, but with it being Dallas it wouldn’t be hard to find plenty of great things to do and places to eat!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Logan Ferguson with Borrowed Charm, thank you for always trusting us with your clients!
