We had the good fortune of connecting with Tonya Monroe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tonya, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Actually, because I am a survivor of suicide, self-mutilation, and domestic violence God spoke into my spirit and said while you were going through all of your trials you didn’t know your worth in my son Jesus. I was like I thought I knew my worth, but it was the world’s worth and not the worth of Jesus Christ. While praying I asked God how He saw me, and what He revealed to me blew my mind. God spoke into my spirit that I am His little diva. I was like folks on social media will have something to say about me calling myself a diva and He gave me Divine Inspiration Victorious Affirmation of Him. So, I named my business Godsdiva, LLC. It is my greatest passion that every woman know her worth in Jesus Christ. Women think by showing themselves on social media is where their worth lies, but what would happen if social media stopped, no more likes and loves or comments, would they still have or know their worth?
What should our readers know about your business?
I am the founder of Godsdiva, LLC and The Worth Within Project. Our mission is to inspire and accelerate the worth in every woman. Our vision is to ENGAGE, EQUIP, AND TRANSFORM the mind and spirit to dynamically build confidence and worth in women with sustainable methods of coaching and teaching so that women can be spiritually successful through continuous improvement of self. What sets me apart from others is I realize my purpose and I will not do anything that goes against my purpose and that includes posting or speaking about anything I do not believe in just for likes, loves, or comments. I speak to women with love, laughter, and lessons, which segued becoming a Worth Coach for women. I am most proud because God trusts me with His purpose over my life to fulfill His will. I have been an entrepreneur for almost three years, has it been difficult, of course it has been and will continue to be because I live in a city where no one wants to give a woman a chance that is not affiliated with a group or clique. The first year was difficult and I was in a rush to be an overnight success until I realized that I have to endure and pay my dues like so many of the inspirational women that have paved the way for me to do what I enjoy doing. My brand is simple…I am a woman who knows whose she is and that the worth of women is “worth” the sacrifice. What you see is what you get!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since COVID I haven’t been out of the house really so honestly I don’t know how to answer this question. When things were normal before the pandemic I went out to experience things a lot now I don’t even know if they are still there. One of my favorite areas I would take a friend is the Bishop Arts district because of the shops, and restaurants.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this to my mother and my daughter. Both of these beautiful women have encouraged me during this purpose walk. They have inspired me to never give up, no matter what people think or say. I grew up poor and my mother always made sure I knew how much she loved me, God blessed me with my daughter at a time in my life when I needed someone to love. My daughter is my friend and my heart.
