We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Loyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tina, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
I think people are always surprised to find out how limited and exclusive our styles are. There is so much time, energy, effort and even love that go into making each gown we offer our guests. These pieces are designed, created and stitched by hand and that kind of process takes time and an enormous amount of skill. So I think people are always suprised to hear that there aren’t 100 pieces made by a machine sitting in a warehouse somewhere. I also know our guests may not realize how close we are personally to the design process for so many of the fabulous lines we carry. We are proud to say we take part in several design meetings a year and we help to create and inspire so many of the looks you see here at Terry Costa. An added bonus of that hands-on experience is the opportunity to carry one-of-a-kind styles that our guests won’t find anywhere else–ensuring an overall look as unique as each of our guests.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I actually started on the wholesale side of the industry and Terry Costa was one of my clients. She offered me a position and I earned a percentage of the store. In 2007 I purchased the rest of the business with an SBA loan, It is definitely not easy but I know the most important thing is to get up every day, get to work and lead my team into the future. I know how important it is to constantly work towards your goals, regardless of obstacles and to never loose focus. I work every day to make sure our guests know that Terry Costa, Inc. is more than just a retail store. We put in an enormous amount of work every day to make sure our guests’ dreams are always within reach. Our entire operation is under one roof, giving us a unique opportunity to work closely together, adjusting quickly to new challenges or environments efficiently. We always operate all our Social Media and photo shoots in-house, allowing us to keep a pulse on our customer’s needs and giving us the ability to respond genuinely to their questions, always keeping up with the latest trends.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course I would never be where I am today without the amazing Terry Costa Team. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some of these fabulous men and women for over 20 years and most of my Executive Team has been with me over a decade. It takes a group of dedicated individuals with many different talents to keep our guests coming back as they have for so long. I’m happy to say my senior sales staff has been with us since I bought the business fourteen years ago and I am so grateful for their dedication to myself and their teammates. We need every bit of our fabulous team in order to give the best possible customer service, from our marketing department to our creative director, the Bridal consultants to the Evening sales team and all of our fabulous Support members that keep the gowns and the store looking its best.
