We had the good fortune of connecting with Teanna Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teanna, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Yes, my favorite quote is “small actions lead to a big picture, think big while also paying attention to details”. Thinking “big picture” gives you the ability to see the overall goal of every aspect of your life. You are able to observe and improve things that may be missed. Having a big picture perspective has a person honing in on things that are important and focus on true priorities. It helps me prioritize in home life and work life. I always look at the big/whole picture when planning my next steps in life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own Savory Queens seasoning blend (www.savoryqueens.com). I am a herbs and spices mixologist. lol. Currently I have three flavors Blazing Chicken, Tastee Beef, and Hot & Spicy. We use fresh herbs and spices and hand curate every bottle. We are different from others seasoning blends because we strive to curate a one stop shop. You only need our seasoning to create a flavorful dish. Our goal is to help consumers declutter their seasoning cabinets. Also, help those wanting to learn how to cook use one simple product to create a tasteful dish.
I am proud that we are now on walmart.com and are taking strides to be placed in local grocery stores. I know this is such a cliché but it truly takes time, hard work, dedication. From marketing to being at farmers markets for hours every weekend to researching quality and manufacturing laws. It is not a easy feat to own a business. The lessons I have learned is research..research..research! Get a mentor in the same category and never stop learning, join Facebook groups and always ask questions.
I am currently working on 2 more flavors and it usually take me a few months to get them “right”, there is a lot of taste testing going on. lol.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Fort Worth but I love Dallas. So a girls day/night out would be as follows: – Massage and Facials ( Massage Envy/Hand and Stone)
– Mani and Ped (if needed-Aria Nails)
– Brunch (Pangea)
– Shopping (Galleria)
– Dinner ( Drakes, Oceanaire, or DJ’s Steakhouse)
– Music/Bar (Vinetti’s, Scat, Stirr, XSeesha)
My friends and I love Brunch so during the rest of the week we would definitely be out brunch’n with mimosas. I love mixed crowds so going to uptown Dallas and downtown fort worth at times are always fun. Going to Karoke nights on Wednesday at Hangouts in Irving. Just having fun and living life to the fullest.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is to my children. Everything I do in life is because of them. I want to break generational curses and make every opportunity within arms reach. I want to make a special shoutout to my oldest son. He has sickle cell. He has showed me how to be strong and take all of life punches as a learning experience. The pain he goes through I would never know but he is one of the strongest people I know. He finds ways to still smile while enduring his pain. Which has taught me a lot. Even though we have bad days there are things we can still smile about. Lastly, I would like to shoutout my husband Calvin; he supports me in all of my endeavors!
