We had the good fortune of connecting with Tea Haywood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tea, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work life balance has changed since I had a daughter in 2019. First I’am a mother, secondly I’am an educator and thirdly I’am a makeup artist. I won’t lie some days there is just not a balance and, I roll with the punches . Others I have a strict schedule and sometimes my daughter is around when I take clients.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an Educator during the week and Makeup artist on the weekend. I’m excited about growing and gaining new clientele and leaving every client happy. I knew I had a passion for makeup early on when I was on the drill team in High School but I was always afraid of my work not being good enough. I would do friends and family makeup (2009-2016). Then around 2017 I created a IG created for makeup and created a name and logo. Fast forward in 2020 I upgraded my logo, created a website for booking , and started a lash line. Starting a business and maintaining it is never easy. My advice is to never be afraid or think your work is not worthy! Always be confident . The best Makeup artist started from the bottom. My goal is not to be popular but to provide the best experience and make my clients want to come back because they love me as a person and my work on them. I may not be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s okay. Beautibytea is my brand and I just want to enhance women’s beauty. We are all beautiful and makeup just adds a little spark!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The whole DFW is pretty dope with lost of hidden gems. I would recommend Village on the Parkway in Addison , lots of restaurants and the Star Blvd in Frisco Lots of Hot spot too..
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I thank God for my best friend from college and my cousin for being my makeup models ,encouraging and pushing me to perfect my craft and keep going in a competitive business where everyone is a makeup artist.
