We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanya J Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanya J, what is the most important factor behind your success?
For me, it’s ensuring, knowing and trusting that I’m doing what I say to others not just in my own business, but especially my life too. I have to know that I too am doing life and leadership unapologetically on purpose.
What should our readers know about your business?
So who am I exactly? 😉 Well I’m Tanya of Tanya J. Miller, LLC, a business we launched December 2014. In addition, I brought under that umbrella my blog and business Talking with Tanya that I’ve had for over 15 years. And yeah, on a daily basis you can find us on all social media. I I’m an author, speaker, coach, and strategist with a passion for helping people and organizations figure out how to do life and leadership unapologetically on purpose. My goal is to speak, coach, write, and startegize on topics that best resonate with the current needs of individuals and organizations looking to figure out how to fit the puzzle pieces of life together, so they can do life right and well. My purpose is always to seek to encourage, motivate, and inspire with practical skills and knowledge to help them release their fears and rise to their potential on purpose. It hasn’t been easy, both in life and leadership for myself or business, but my purpose pushes and even pulls me up and out when need be. From that, I “use it all” as I say. True sorry frfr, I just recorded what I call “Full Disclosure” on Talking with Tanya to go out on social media all week to let you know it’s hard, but I can’t, we can’t stop.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Lol ok so true story I’m a Yelper, deal shopper, and foodie to name a few, plus I’ve grown to love nature as I’ve gotten older. And if I could get my 2 sis here together and we keep it, we’d definitely go in. So for DFW Locally if we could go outside again frfr: *hit up and show major support to the black restaurants like – Kookie Haven, Cake Bar, Henderson’s, Rudy’s, Madea’s Home Cookin, Wingfield’s, Jamaica Gates or The Island Spot, Black Coffee, Sweet Georgia Browns, Brunchaholics, Rosako’s, Doughboy Donuts – there are really so many food spots to hit up. *go shopping like at Pan African Connection, The Doc Bookshop,Dillard’s Clearance, thrift shopping like at Thrift Giant, North Park, couple of Farmer’s Markets, I Am Bold Boutique, my online spot too with Tan J’Nae and more *get in some physical fitness with Savage Fitness, KRB Fitness Cedar Ridge Preserve and finally meet up the Down South Hikers.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Fam, smh I literally don’t have enough space to type, call out and recount every person or experience, and honestly that would still never ever be enough to thank everything and everybody that has played some part in my life, journey and story – good or bad. So to keep it simple, I’m going to call attention to two people I’m learning to do life now without them: my Granny – Mary Dorothy Nell McCalister Powell (lost her Feb 2020) and my big sister – Shannon LaVette Harper (lost her June 2019). I hope I’m making proud.
