We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherman Johnson Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sherman, why did you pursue a creative career?
Ever sinve a kid, I ALWAYS wanted to to do music and the older I got I realized that I didn’t have a choice. Anytime I would try something else or gave a thought to anything other than music, Music would pull me right back iN. The older I got the more I was able to learn more about the business and learning this way is waybetter than tradional learning or going in to a classroom for it.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel like what sets me apart is my personallity and experiences. Being a producer helps me sound better as an artist and being an artist helps me become a better producer. As a rapper and a producer whoever I’m making music with I can understand and communicate their vision musically. Im excited I get to work and build something organic with artist, get paid for it and build a relationship. I’ve been running a studio as a legitamate gig for a little over 3 years now and the only challenges I have seemed to face are Technical breakdowns. I’ve had to get at least two new computer in the last 5 years! Some crash some start running slow, but it is wat it is. Also I’ve been bessed to wofork with people who want to grow and learn just as much as I do, So it’s amazing I get to go on this journey, make money, good music, and keep the friends.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Man! Pre corona?! If they came down? Lol haven’t been out so long I don’t even know! When they get here man, if it’s friday then that night then we gotta go to “BoBo’s” Myabe go down to Sciccortail park the next day and chill for min. Maybe go to Culture Coffe and enjoy the vibes. If there is a show that weekend then would def be hitting that up. Other than that we would be at the house chilling watching TV or collaborating on music.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
