We had the good fortune of connecting with Shannon Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shannon, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?

One important lesson that I have learned from owning my own business is that you have to BELIEVE in yourself, your brand and your ability to help others. If you don’t believe in yourself and your business…….. Then who will? That alone, in my opinion, is the most important lesson that being a business owner has taught me.

What should our readers know about your business?

I have been an educator for more than a decade. I can attest to the academic growth and development a scholar can obtain with proper educational support. We offer and specialize in 3rd through 5th grade tutoring, with a standard of excellence to each scholar. Tutoring can build on children’s strengths, close possible learning gaps and continue them on their path of excellence. It is our goal to nurture scholars’ academic curiosity and learning goals. We also offer new teacher mentorship programs, consultations and more to support teachers in their first years of teaching!

I remember being in elementary school and most of my subjects seemed very challenging, it was difficult for me to grasp the concepts. Furthermore, it always felt like teachers were teaching over my head! I didn’t feel confident or ready for the next grade level. If you’re wondering if I had a learning disability, I didn’t. I just needed additional support from a skilled professional to help me close a few learning gaps that had developed.

It was very important for me to make a difference in other children’s lives that may have the same difficulty or struggles as I did. Through the years, I’ve gained a wide range of knowledge on the psychology of children and how to best meet their academic and social emotional needs. I am confident, in not only myself, but the team of educators that I partner with. We have demonstrated our abilities inside and out of the classroom and are ready to serve! Over 80% of my students passed the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) in reading alone! That’s awesome considering the COVID 19 Pandemic that surely caused learning gaps in our young scholars! We look forward to new highs as we progress!

I always knew I wanted to do more, give more and be more! I started reading self help books and watching videos that inspired me. I would write my future goals and business plans down. As I kept doing this my physical actions started to catch up with my mental state!

I would like the world to know that if you believe YOU can do it, you definitely can!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Hmm. Okay let’s see! I’m always good for a nice brunch at Soiree Coffee Bar or the Yolk, followed by retail therapy! I love to shop with friends! We could bar hop in Deep Ellum or visit Greedy’s Lounge in Desoto for good food, drinks, music and more! Also visit the African American Museum in Dallas and Waxahachie TX. On Friday, we would visit Sandaga 813 for live band entertainment. Dinner at Fogo De Chao or Vidorra Dallas for some Mexican cuisine and more shopping lol.
