We had the good fortune of connecting with Celine Ramey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Celine, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I feel like the most important factor behind my success is my ability to connect with my clients on a personal and professional level to achieve my ultimate goal in capturing the purest moments in their session. I like to ask my clients beforehand their wishes for the session prior to meeting them to ensure a successful and fun experience. I also want to provide them with as much information and communication as possible to let them know that I am there for them every step of the way in the process of booking their session, wedding or special event. I am here to laugh and be silly with them to get all of those smiling faces!
I also just simply love love and I get all giddy when I photograph all of my wedding clients and I just feel so honored that they choose me to capture the moments of their wedding day. I am almost always tearing up and I always have Kleenex for those who get just as emotional as I do!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Getting to this point in my career took so much work and tons of trial and error. My website, for instance, probably took me over a year for me to perfect and I am very proud of myself for completing it by myself. As well as my booking link, contracts, etc. There is so much more to owning my own photography business than I thought but I was eager to make it all happen.
I also found that I absolutely love to capture the moments of pregnancy. Being a mother myself, I want all moms to be to feel the most beautiful during their pregnancy. So, I decided to build my own client closet for all of my maternity clients. I went from searching on Facebook marketplace for dresses to start my closet up and now here I am with over 60 dresses with name brands in a variety of styles, sizes and colors for all of my clients to use at no additional fee. I feel like this is one of my biggest moves for my success in my business. I also provide a large variety of props for my clients such as teepees, florals, smash cakes, etc. to make their session memorable.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my girlfriends and I get together, we make a big day out of it! We all live all over the metroplex with busy work schedules, families and just living our separate lives as adults and the older we get, the unfortunate fact is that we don’t get to see each other as much as we did when we were younger. We always start our day off with brunch. No matter what the plan is for the rest of the day, we always start with brunch, mimosas and coffee! We love to try out new places that we have never been to before. We catch up and then we usually make our way to do some shopping and we always have to take photos! We absolutely love finding cute spots or murals on our shopping walk for a good ole’ fashioned photo op!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The success of my business did not just happen overnight. Way before I started my business in 2018, I was in the service industry as a bartender and server in restaurants since 2005. I constantly had my disposable camera, digital camera and eventually a smart phone everywhere I went. I wanted to document all of the moments of my life. When I had my first son, Grayson, in 2018 and decided to quit the bartending life and begin a new chapter as a photographer. It was definitely a rocky start because the service industry is all that I had ever known and like any new business owner, I started to doubt my work and ability to be a business owner. I still did sessions here and there for practice but I started to work remotely from home in 2019 doing invoice reviews. I became pregnant with my second son and in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and I got let go from my remote job. I was lost and conflicted with how I would proceed with life so I made the decision to put all my eggs in the basket and pursue my photography business full time all while also having my newborn baby, Grant! It was super scary but I was committed because this is something that I was always passionate about ever since high school. I joined all the mom, photography and business groups on Facebook to get my name out there as much as possible. I sought out help where I could and I am so grateful for all of the help from all that believed in me.
I have had so much help from mentors such as a family friend, Clark Cabus, who is a master whiz at the art of off camera flash and knows off all the ins and outs of the latest cameras and gear. He let me second shoot a few weddings with him and I learned so much from him. I did so many sessions for exposure just to master my craft and really understand which style of photography spoke to me the most. I finally found that true to color is my calling and I absolutely love bringing out the vibrate colors in all of my sessions.
I also wouldn’t be here without the love and support of my wonderful husband, Brian, my amazing mom and my two boys. They are the reason that I thrive to do my best all day everyday, even when I have my doubts, they are always there to boost me up! They are my biggest support system and I wouldn’t be where I am without them.
