We had the good fortune of connecting with Shamika McGee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shamika, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
My decision to heal myself was/is the most important contributing factor in my success. Prior to that decision, my life experience was full of trauma that weighed me down in every aspect. The moment I decide to heal myself from within, my experience changed for the better. I found the courage to honor myself and be transparent about my healing journey which cultivated a safe space and a overall better quality of life for myself and those around me.
What should our readers know about your business?
The name of my business is MelaNature Juice Co. and we are on a mission to cultivate a natural state of well-being one cold-pressed blend at a time. Our blends are a tasty way to incorporate fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. For me, MelaNature is the byproduct of healing and alignment. I was on a journey to heal myself from within when I was introduced to celery juice and all of its amazing healing properties. I challenged myself to drink this “Green Gold” daily and my life quickly began to change, I literally felt like I unlocked a new level in life and was eager to share my findings! In the beginning, it was a challenge trying to convince my loved ones to drink raw fruits and vegetables but eventually, I was able to design and serve them some of their favorite elixirs that are healing from the inside out. I learned very early to be all about my healing and lead by example. I want the world to know that I’m on a mission to raise the collective vibration. I aspire to be a wellness center full of healing tools like yoga/mindful movement, meditation, breathwork and of course cold press juice to assist others on their journey. I believe healing is holistic, and as I heal myself I invite those around me to heal and bask in a overall better quality of life. I am motivated and driven to create a better future for those here now & to come.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My bestie and I would have to start the days off with green juice and yoga. Since shes in town for a week we’d have to spend one of those mornings kayaking at White Rock Lake. We’d do brunch/lunch somewhere around downtown then have a impromtu photo shoot to capture the essence of our beautfiul life. The city is filled with so many beautiful sites from the Arboretum to the multiple meseums so we’d spend our days exploring the arts of Dallas togeher. In our downtime we’ll frequent the spa for some much needed rest and relaxation. Her vacation itinerary is perfectly balanced between fun and relaxation. My bestie and I love just existing together and have the best time just spending time.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m so fortunate to have my friends and family. I am surrounded by some of the most supportive, uplifting all-around amazing beings who inspire me on a daily basis. They are truly my tribe and I am eternally grateful for the space we hold for one another. If I had to name one person, it would be my soul sister, Veronica Gray. She has been so supportive and such a resource to me on my journey from friendship all the way down to business, she has always spoken life, shared knowledge, and dropped gems.
